Zones of mid 1990s
« on: July 27, 2006, 03:26:42 PM »
Hello all.

In your opinion, do you guys think that seeing the older Zones such as the Sapphire, Danger, or D2Z as replacements for the BVP line will ever happen?  Quite a few companies are taking that older technology of the mid 1990s and they are bringing them back onto the market in the form of mid performance line of balls.  EX:  Heat/Slash line from Track.....Wrath line from Columbia....Brunswick using the Quantum cores for the BVP line.

As a customer, would you like to see this happen?  As a staffer, do you guys think it will happen?  I think it would be pretty cool if they did.

Not the last I was informed.  The BVP line was using the old Quantum core unless you are insinuating that the current Assym Zone line is using them instead.  I will research further.

hammerbowler is dead on here.  I went to Brunswicks website and it was the Bruiser that I was thinking of.  I stand corrected.  Thanks, Hammer!!!!

But, my question still stands.  Does anyone think that Big B will take the older zones from the mid - late 1990s and release them into the BVP area?  here is what could, and hopefully will happen.

Speed Zone
Danger Zone
Sapphire Zone
Speed Demon
D2Z
Vapor Speed Zone

It would be really neat to see these balls released into the BVP line once they are outdated.  I think B needs to expand their lineup in a way such as Columbia and Ebonite.  Of course these are ideas for retail for their lineup.

Sell the BVPs for 135.00.  Sell the older Zones for 159.00  Keep the rest where they are at.

its not so much the "balls" as it is the cores that i'd like to see back.

some low diff stuff is sorely missed.

With all due respect, there is plenty of lower diff bowling balls out there.  It would be nice to see the cores from those balls in the same covers as the Inferno and Absolute Inferno.  I agree.  But, to see the Speed Zone or Sapphire back on the shelf, that would be exciting for alot of Brunswick fanatics.

I do not think that Brunswick will bring back any of the old Zones. Although I think, that a broader core selection in the BVP line would not be bad. Something like the original Danger Zone (solid polished PK18, lower RG core than Wizard) would be nice, or something like the Command Zone ARC (e. g. polished or Rough Buffed solid N'Control PowerBoost with the old Monster door knob core). They could fill some small gaps, but probably not be profitable since you can get the reaction more or less through surface adjustments with other balls.

Another idea which would be nice would be Activator coverstock balls, e .g. a pearl, a solid and a light or medium load particle with a simple low RG core like the Quantum derivate once used on the Bruiser and Slay/R. The stuff would be there. But these would probably too "state of the art" and to close to the Infernos to come true, and a seperate line between the BVPs and the asym. Zones could IMHO not be justified - although I think that there would be some demand?

Every zone I had from that era, the core seperated.  A danger zone, danger zone black ice, combat zone and a speed zone vapor all died after less than a year.  While the ball reactions were great before this happened, I don't consider this to be the "Golden Age" of Brunswick.
