I have dealt with this user in the past with no ill will pointed anywhere. However, a recent transaction (or lack of completion on his part, has pushed me to let everytone know....

He wanted the used Sonic X I had listed on my used page. He asked if I would consider a trade. I said OK, what do you have? One of the balls HE OFFERED was a NIB Too Hot with good specs I said Yeah, I'd swap the Sonic X for the Too Hot. No problem. We agreed to ship within ht next 2 days, which I did.

Then I receive a message asking if I'd take a used Too Hot and $10 instead. I said no, we agreed on the NIB Too Hot. He said OK, he'd ship within the next day or so.

About 2 days later I get a message on here that he is now telling me that the thumb on the Sonic X was plugged and not once drilled as I stated. I sold the ball NIB to PChee and he then swapped it to Cooksey and Cooksey swapped it back to me. I didn't touch the ball, Cooksey said all he had his guy do was install a slug to alter the span and pitches and PChee just drilled the ball (no thumb slug).

Guess what I have yet to receive some 2 weeks later??? You are correct Dr. Watson...my Too Hot is nowhere to be found! He also now refuses to answer messages sent to him.

Oh yeah and it isnt like it takes 3 weeks for the ball to get here either...he lives in OH...so it should take a maximum of 3 days to get here.

It doesn't sound like this guy is gonna deliver the goods and thats a shame. Another person that won't step up to the plate and do the right thing..

Like I said...I have dealt with him before with no problems but this time is different.

I am thinking he had 2nd thoughts but refusing to do the right thing and follow through with the offer he posed in the first place. BUt I agree...he said he would ship on the 15th and I have yet to see or hear from him after that date...

Time will tell....

USPS shipping? With all that has gone on with bad trades, etc on through this board, and the amount of people that have had problems with USPS (not too mention it usually costs more than UPS) someone still used USPS? Hard to understand until we realize common sense is so uncommon.
Personally, after viewing the website pictures of the SonicX I can not CLEARLY see where this ball was "plugged". I have also asked several people in the pro shop, as well as 2 prominent drillers, and no one can see the "plugging" in the pictures.
I hope the ball arrives back to Doug. I have not personally dealt with him, but have had a few discussions, and he has always been upfront, even when we disagreed about a ball manufacturer

Call your lawyer in the morning???  That could be the funniest thing I have seen on the web in weeks!  I highly doubt you have a lawyer on retainer and if you did, would it be worth the $350 per hour to send a certified letter to Doug telling him to cease?  In which case if Doug does not cease, your legal council will file a slander or defamation case against Doug due to postings on the Internet???  Check the case law for precedence on this one...oh yeah, if you were going to retain a contigency fee lawyer (you know the ones...we don't get paid until you do) nobody will touch your "case".  Just some friendly advise....and it is free.

Thumbs, if you have the receipt showing it was sent 8-19, then show Doug the receipt or a copy of it and you will "be off the hook."......And Doug will retract this post and knowing him as well as I do, he will also appoligize.

Please give up the "I'm going to call my lawyer" crap.  Ever hear the word frivolous?  Why do people think that scares anyone?

Why did you change your username from stevo300 to Thumbsdown?  Seems like several people here have changed their usernames after bad deals...

I saved the picture and blew it up.  If it's plugged, it doesn't show up well.  It gets too blurry when you zoom in.

Another person who won't answer messages and emails, but is quick to answer when he is exposed online.

Doug's a respectable guy, and I highly doubt the thumb was plugged if he said it wasn't.  The picture isn't clear enough for me to get a good look, sorry, it looks awesome to me.  And what's with the lawyer bullstuff?  Sorry, but that's childish.  Somebody else on here threatened to get a lawyer.  Who cares?  I've had people "slander" me on here before too.  Doug's a good guy, and he'll work it out with you if you're being reasonable.  For him to post this, you've had to have done something fairly irritating or unprofessional.  Sorry, but I've never even had a transaction with Doug, but I've heard good things about him all the time ever since I joined ballreviews a year ago.  You're on your own for now, bud.

I didn't know you changed usernames frequently.  I'd think you'd want people to know who they're dealing with, but to each his own.

It's hard to say unless you're in the situation, but I'd hope I'd tell my side of the story, and I'd be vindicated once all the facts came out.  Doug seems like a reasonable guy.  I think he'd offer a full retraction if he was wrong.  I guess I still feel that innocent people have nothing to hide.  Did Doug tell you he'd give you a bad review here if you didn't send him the NIB Too Hot?

Good luck to the both of you.  Steve and Doug have both been long time members, hopefully they can work it out.

Looks like the ball I had, but then again I'm just going by layout.   That's how I lay out all of my stuff.  Anyway, I didn't plug the ball I just drilled it with finger inserts and no thumb slug.   Only threw it a few games because it was too strong for what I wanted.  So I don't know where the plug came from if there was a plug.   Can't tell from the pics.   Using photoshop to blow it up and no luck.  

Just came back from labor day shopping with one of my chicks.   Was kinda cool signing up for all those free things in the department store where they ask for your name and address.  The bad thing about signing up is that they send you all kinds of junk mail and then sell your personal info to other marketing agencies who then spam you with junk mail and resell your info to other agencies who do the same.  I'm just glad I didn't give my real name and address.  Got the name and address from this post and used it to sign up all the stuff.  I also signed up for NAMBLA with this name.

Been reading this post and as far as the ball being plugged heres my theory: Doug sold the ball to pchee, pchee drilled it up with no thumb slug. Pchee sold it to Cooksey, and Cooksey took it to his driller to slug the thumb to fit his span/pitch. Driller probably had to plug the thumb in order to get correct span, then redrilled through most of the plug, leaving the small spot that is noticed in the pic (I dont have XP so I couldnt tell). Cooksey then traded it back to Doug, where as then Doug has traded it to Steveo. So even though Doug did not do anything the thumb, the thumb has been plugged. He may not have noticed the slight difference in color around the thumb, thus saying the thumb has never been plugged.

I have not done a deal with Doug in the past, so I cannot say wether or not it was a good or bad transaction, but I do know he has a great rep on this site. For the other ball being shipped on the 19th through the USPS, if it was not shipped priority, it may have taken a week or so, depending. It may have been ready to arrive before the holiday, and with the mail not going on monday, it could arrive tuesday. Then again, it could have arrived last week sometime and Doug hasnt received it from the mail/bowling center, who knows. Hopefully for both ends the transaction is completed with no trouble. Just my take on the situation. Have a good one.
