ROCK ON
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Columbia 300(r) announces the introduction of the ROCK ON(tm). The ball is
available immediately and cleared for PBA regional competition beginning
January 12 and national competition January 15. The ball features Columbia's
TEC2(tm) cover stock. The ROCK ON is available in Deep Purple with Peach
engraving. It is available in weights of 12-16 lbs. The ROCK ON is one hook
monster designed for heavy oil. It features the TEC2 (patent pending) shell.
The secret lies in the new core shape and heavily loaded TEC2 particle
shell. The core concentrates the weight near the center of the ball for
maximum roll. The large, dense flip block adds to the flare potential for
more hook. This ball has a .052 differential Rg for 5-6 inches of flare. The
high TEC2 particle loading puts more teeth in the shell to bite through the
heavy oil. This ball will grab the lane through the oil for a mid lane hook
and create a strong curving backend. The ROCK ON offers a hook rating of 28.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!  This review is for the Limited Edition version and the old version.
My very first 300 was with the old version and I averaged 220 in that league.  Since then I have had good success with it until the lanes I bowl at scuffed up the track very badly.  By that time the Rock On was discontinued.  I have since purchased other equipment such as Reaction Roll and Swamp Monster and others, but nothing hit as hard and carried pins like the Rock On.  Now, to my delight I have gotten back that edge with the Limited Edition Rock On and it is everything the old version was. THANK THE BOWLING GODS AT COLUMBIA 300

ROCK ON FOREVER!!!!!

This ball was my direct replacement for the black Rock.

Same hit as the original, even more hit when touched with a bit of polish. More Hook, alot more hook, I am talking about 6-7 boards.

Definately not an every day ball. It just flat out hooked too much for that.

Not quite the controll as with the black rock or the complete chaos, but it tracked up less than those two and it required being cleaned a little less.

This was my favorite ball in the Rock Line, and probably the most popular ball Columbia has put out in some time next to the Ti Messenger.

I give the Rock On 9 out of 10

I always wanted to post a review on my favorite Particle ball of all time.  I've stopped using this long ago but got it in the fall of 2001.  All I remember is that with a 2 inch pin I had the pin under the ring finger with the C.G. swung out and an axis hole below the PAP on the VAL.  Even in its box state it cleared the heads like a polished resin with an extreme entry angle.  Polished it was even more flippy off the dry boards but the ball was very consistant and adaptable to alot of conditions.  The ball had enough energy to finish on deep inside angles, playing outside angles, and swinging the lane.  While I naturally get the ball through the heads, most of the time with heavy load particles I experience burnout and rollout but there was no early burn up here, just roll and an hard arc as soon as it encountered friction and got on its PSA(Perferred Spin Axis).  This was one of the most versatile and consistant particles I've ever used and I had an excellent 1-2 punch with this and my Red Pulse 2 years ago.

I bought this ball off of a friend and had it drilled with the pin about a 1/4 inch above my ring finger im a lefty that throws about 17-18mph with med to high revs. Befor i had this ball i averaged about 165-170 and couldnt seem to find the pocket when the lanes had heavy oil but when i got this ball that all changed. It is a hook monster and hits like a ton of bricks i love this ball my high game with it is a 278 and ad high series of 710. Since getting this ball my average has gon up to a 195-200 and climbing i use it with a zone hpd.I give this ball a 8 1/2 out of 10 it is a great ball i am getting a storm fear factor and ,a messenger pearl i will give a review when  i get those

BUY THIS BALL! (if you still can that is...)

I have this ball and the Rock Star and both balls have done well. I know it's kinda late for a review, but never new they had such sites back then. I've had this ball and the Rock Star for about 2 years. I have many balls before but this ball really helped me target my weak spots and grow as a bowler. the ball will find the pocket. I've messed up many times and the just responds so well that it wouldn't let you waste that one frame. The ball will travel down the lane and hook when u need. as little or a lot. The ball is very much so a Beginners ball. It is only recently, that I've gotten back into bowling that I realized that I'll need a higher end ball and heavier ball to keep my game. This ball will will never leave my bag. I'd better keep this ball in my bag if I'm gunna catch those spares. take cares all...
