a ball suggestion
« on: January 06, 2014, 10:09:22 PM »
Greetings
What ball would you recommend to go along with my "Enigma - Oath - Freeze Hybrid" ?

I would like the new "Crazy Antics" but I dont know if that would be the smart thing to do  8) of course it certainly wouldnt be the 1st time I did something weird with my bowling gear  :o

Maybe if I left my Enigma and Oath at OOB and put some polish on the "Crazy Antics" then do you think that would prevent any overlapping???

What are you looking for the ball to do? Because their are two recommendations based solely on what you have

To play on medium oil and I would be standing (around) 28 and throwing out for a small swing  shot...I'm right handed.

After reading a few posts about the CA I think I might be better off with the 'Disruption'...I'm looking for a ball yo go above my Freeze Hybrid basically.

My personal suggestion would be a smack down or the new take down. Smack down will do just that, will give a little more midlane and less backend then the take down but it's an amazing ball! You can't go wrong with either one! I don't know if your a tournament or sport shot bowler at all but if you are I would also suggest the ca as well for when you want to stay in the same area as your egnima but your enigma starts to burn up and not retain energy. The reason I wouldn't go the disruption is because it will be a lot more wet dry sensitive then what your are looking for in what you described.

Ok thanks for the suggestions. What are your feelings about the Eruption Pro?

In my opinion, you already have two high end smooth rolling balls.  So I dont think there is a need for another one like a Smack Down or Take Down.  The Eruption Pro or Disruption both would fit the bill nicely to go under the Oath but be a step above the Freeze.  Only other thing you could consider, is if you did a Take Down but added a coat of polish to it.  However, if you did that, you may as well just get the Crazy Antics.  But my suggestion is any of the Eruption balls.

IMO, the disruption is an awesome ball, however, only after i took the factory finish off and re-did it. that ball went way to far down the lane OBB.
then the ball came alive for me.
its also stronger overall then the eruption pro and IMO, much better

The eruption pro is a great piece! For a solid clears the heads and the mids quite nicely! The blue eruption was to angular for me although I loved the look I got I couldn't kick the corners due to entry angle the violent was a little better but I didn't like the over under I got out of the ball. Now the eruption pro have me that look but blended the lane a lot better. The reasoning for the smack down or take down was with what you described you could get that out of the pro but it might be a little more jumpy. The smack down is a hybrid whereas the oath is a solid with a stronger cover core combo so it's a good step down from the oath but they however are right about the eruption line. I do like the pro just don't be surprised if it pops off the backend more then you were expecting

The EP is a ball that needs some head oil, to much early friction and the ball slows down fast. changes direction to quick
if you find the shot where you can use the EP, it will store energy, have an even, arcing move and carry very well.
if its not that condition, then you have to put it away.
had mine drilled pin down, they re-drilled pin up
i am able to recreate OBB finish(pretty close anyways) and have had both drillings at 2000 dull to 4000 polished.
I will just repeat the above, when its good, its really good.
when its not, put it away

Where would you guys put the Perfect Scale for these balls since bowlingball.com has not put it up yet?

The balls in question are - Crazy Antics, Take Down

I know that the Perfect Scale is far from perfect but it does give me an idea anyway  8)

An example from bowlingball.com :

Eruption Pro - 189.9
Enigma - 216.47
Freeze Hybrid - 170.8

I'm thinking about one these 3, Eruption Pro, Crazy Antics, Take Down and I am kinda leaning towards the Crazy Antics since I found out its a pearl and I can polish to make it go longer...just saying!

Crazy antics will be somewhere around the enigma and take down close to the smack down and pro will be around the others

Another Q - if the Crazy Antics and the Vow were drilled the same would the Vow be more ball?

I'm asking because the Vow is made for med-heavy oil and the CA is made for med-oil...thanks again, Jake
