About the WILD
« on: October 26, 2004, 08:25:59 AM »
Why was it that Columbia came out with the 2 WILDS... was it just suppose to be a new and improved and stronger version of the Scout Reactive or something? Or was it just the same ball as the Scout Reactive with only a new name/color? Do they have the same coverstock and same core?

And I've never figured out why they came out with 2 different WILD's in the first place... some say they are slightly different and some say they are the same ball with just a different color so that people could have their choice of which color they wanted?

On Columbia's website, under the "coverstock benifits" of each of the 2 WILD's... the regular WILD says it "Creates more skid in oil and "LESS" flip on dry boards" ... and the R/G/R Wild says it "Creates more skid in oil for "MORE" flip on dry boards".

Scouts are pearlized, Wilds are polished solids that give you a little more overall hook.

Hmmm... the Wild's that I've seen looked as though they had actual pearlization in them??? Not just color swirls, but actual pearlization.

This ball is still amazing me! Everytime I use it, it gives me great length and some area when other people's stuff is overreacting... and I'm popping off 230's and 240's over and over.

Ball carries so great for such a "weak" core!

Ball is so good, I just won 2 auctions on EBAY from Jeff Ripic for 31.00 + shipping and 36.00 + shipping.

Only difference is the one that I'm currently using is the regular WILD, and the 2 that I just won are the WILD R/G/R version.

I hope they react the exact same way as the regular version!

There's been several 800's shot with the WILD, LuckyLefty's friend John Snowdon (I think that's his name) shot 851 and a couple of 300's... and Iketown300 (a guy on here) shot 802 and 300 with his... and a girl from, well I can't remember what state, she set the state record for women or something with a set of like 834 with her's... and there's been a few more... and maybe I'll be next? Afterall, my other 2 800's this year were with Columbia balls.

I can't say enough GREAT things about it!

The roll of this thing on the lanes is so unbelieveable!

Oh, and does anybody know if this ball is still being made by Columbia? If not, do they have anything else coming out that will be a replacement for the WILD? In my opinion, the FEAR doesn't even come close! I hated that ball! And plus, it's not the same ball reaction as the WILD so it can't replace it.

you can add me to your list of high games with the WILD.  Probably the greatest ball I roll right now.  I've rolled a 299, 300, and 3 800s with the ball.  highest of the eights being 825 (on a walled up shot I must admit).  But this ball is just so versatile for a measly little $60 ball.

See, there's some more honor scores shot with the WILD.

Those of you that have shot honor scores with your WILD... which WILD do you have and how is it drilled?

Thanks!

I have a Wild(ver.1), Pin under ring finger, C.G negative under the middle finger.  It's a nice hook/stop reaction but too strong in the dirt, too weak in the mediums, not enough torque to get around the corner swinging the lane, but that is what the FEAR is for.  But it is a nice niche ball so I can see myself using it when they get tough and nothing else is working.  Like that line WRWJR was throwing on TV with that Exception, this is where this layout and this ball shines.  An extreme outside angle on a shorter condition for a nice hook/set reaction.

Now if I could only get it to carry the corners I'd be a better bowler.
