Looking for recommendations of balls that have a great backend in heavy oil.  I was considering the Full Throttle, Alter Ego, and Big Bully.  Which one will be able to hit the hardest or is this all determined by the way the ball is drilled and pin placement?

In my opinion, particle is best for control in heavy oil. I think most particles will do the trick for you.

Anything with low (2.5 or less) RG and a dull (800 grit or less) surface should do - either reactive or particle. It's matter of taste and your current assortment.
And an early roll drilling (e.g. pin just outside ring finger, CG on the midlane = mass bias more than 90° from PAP) will work fine on anything medium and more, as well as longer patterns. Will give a wide arc, no skid/snap, might run off on short patterns iif you cannot compensate with speed and/or hand position.

if u like columbia i recommend a Full throttle. the cover on the ball is very versatile. sanded or polished the ball rolls great. dizzy described a good layout.

i prefer ebonite and would recommend a Xcel particle or a v2 strong. both are great balls and can be layed out to reach your desired reaction. the Xcel hooks more than anything ive ever thrown.

also another roll type ball is the Game Time pearl, this ball doesnt get very high reviews or credit but works well when dulled for oily lanes
