Bedlam Help
« on: February 05, 2010, 01:19:24 PM »
Im just getting back into bowling after a few year break.  My ball speed is way down and almost all the stuff i own is too strong.  Im looking at getting a bedlam or something else that will go long and snap back.

Do you think i will have issues with this ball being too strong?  Ive always had 2-3" pins...should i try a 3-4" pin?

Im open to ball suggestions (was looking at the wild ride too), layouts, or whatever.  Im getting addicted to the sport again.

I have a Bedlam.  It's drilled with the pin about 4 1/2" from the pap and about 3/4" above the ring finger.  The MB is in the strong position.  For me, this is a medium condition ball.  It gets great length and has a strong backend.  For those with higher speeds, it will probably be more of a skid-snap reaction.  NOTE:  I think the ball had a 2-3" pin.

If it will help, my speed is 14 to 15mph and I have low revs.

Unless you bowl on a lot of oil, I think you would like this ball.

What do you own now and how is it drilled? And 2-3" pins, is that the layout or the pin to cg distance is 2-3"??? The Bedlam is a pretty strong ball and without knowing your layouts and current stuff that is too strong, people on here will not be able to give you the best advice possible. Also try talking with your pro shop guy as this is part of his job...

all drilled about the same with the pin above my ring finger and the mass bias to the right of my thumb.  the pins are 2-3" to the cg and is in line with the mb and pin.  i would go to the proshop but i am gettin this ball from a league i am in

I don't know my specs like others, but I can tell you that I am/was a speed dominant player for like...forever. And this year, either I'm still at a speed deficit due to recovery from a year long quadriceps injury, or the lane conditions have gotten very dry, but my Bedlam has been a godsend.

My speed used to be in the 17-18 mph range, and this year it's usually more like 15-16. So everything I have was moving too early, unless I muscled it, and then it had even less rotation than normally.  Bought the Bedlam and except when the oil is super fresh (first game, or even first 1/2 game), it's been a great ball for me.

My only caution is that it is more sensitive to changes in hand position and speed than most of my other equipment, which is great for a last minute correction of a bad delivery...not so much, though, when you are delivering what you think is a good shot, and accidentally mess it up at the last moment.

Overall, though, this is a great ball if you want to regain or compensate for some of the lost speed at the beginning and middle part of the lane.  The Bedlam WILL snap at the end. I wouldn't call it skid-flip, but it's stronger (to me) than just an arc.

Hope that helps in some way.

Well that layout should give you decent length and pretty good backed. The pin length 2-3 or 3-4 has no effect on ball motion. The way you drill the ball is what you would want to change. What balls do you own? If they are all high end hook monsters i would recommend a lower end ball. And if they aren't strong i would recommend a longer drill pattern such as over your middle finger. Also, what are the surfaces of your equipment? Sanded to 500? 4000? Polished? Out of Box? The more info you give the more we can help.

i have an ultimate inferno, ebonite angular one, track power machine, and ultra zone.  the angular one is the strongest ball out of all them.  they are OOB finishes but the ultimate could be refinished as well as the angular one.

is the storm reign gonna give similar results to the bedlam?
