Disruption cover
« on: September 05, 2013, 08:56:31 AM »
Anybody else having issue with this cover?
Just skates down the lane and seems like a dud on arrival

Haven't changed the cover yet, but not what i was expecting at all.
I know it says Powerhouse factory finish, but it seemed excessively clean down the lane on a burned up house shot.
was not burning up early what so ever.

I had a bit of over/under reaction when I first got the ball OOB.  I took the cover down to 2000 grit and then added polish on top of that and now I get a good reaction out of the ball.  Will have more grit under the polish that way.

I think its 2000 grit + polish from the factory (according to website)
Maybe they polished the living $hit out of it for shelf appeal, wouldn't be the first time
Im going to do just as you did - will see if its any better tonight on a medium sport pattern

I had the same issue with the Violent.  The polish out of the factory makes the ball really skiddish in oil.  Took the cover back to 2000 and then added Rough Buff instead of factory Finish and now the ball reads the lane well and pops on the backend.

You'll notice that on a lot of Ebi's pearls. They actually use animal lard to give the ball a better shelf appeal like Dave was talking about. I talked to our EBI ball rep about what to do and he said as soon as you get their pearls knock the cover down. I just took a white pad, then 4000 pad to my Violent and i saw a much better look that way.

took a 2000 pad and put clean n dull on it - on the spinner
then did a coat of powerhouse factory finish

ball was polished, but not marble looking like OBB
it definitely made the ball react like I was hoping it would
Ball still has easy length and a great arcing motion with continuation through the pins

Had I not got the OBB finish off of it, this ball would have been back to the proshop for an exchange - dont know why the factory would do such a thing
Ball was dud with the OBB finish

I was really considering buying this ball until I read your post.  Would you mind telling me how you have it drilled?  Pin up or down and distance from pap.

Thanks.

I believe its a 50x4.5x60
puts pin below and between my fingers

night and day difference from OBB to taking the surface to 2000 and then adding factory finish polish.
super clean through the heads and great continuous motion to the pins.
awesome 1 -2 punch on the medium sport pattern.
pin down disruption and then when the heads started to go, pin up absolute curve.
Also a great ball, little longer, stronger, but stronger arcing motion
Both pieces have symmetric cores which fits my game better.

I really liked alle the balls with the resurgence core, but i really hate this one. it is extreme over under compared to the rest. At 1000 grit it is still to clean, The violent at same surface seemed alot sooner and stronger.

You have it at 1000?
from the spinner or by hand?
how do you have it drilled

I could see a pin up layout going pretty far down the lane

About 500 rpm, 18.5 mph - Disruption 55 x 6 x 35 surface is 1000 by spinner, Violent 50 x 6 x 40 surface is 1000 by spinner and another with same drilling is 1000/3000 by spinner. Both is stronger than the disruption.

Violent is a good ball for sure.
Any chance you can add a weight hole to the disruption?

I have to to make sure I roll the disruption well so it reads the lane
I have noticed that I can throw it through my breakpoint rather easily
And I actually like that because it tells me what im doing wrong
Probably not the best choice, but pin down and medium pattern, it works for me
i am working on matching my speed to my rev rate better
I believe i am 360-375 and 17 mph
I am also on a higher friction lane surface for my sport league which could also make a difference

My new pin up ball which is really good for me is the Hammer Absolute curve
there is a pretty good hammer video on it with 5 different styles shown

thinking about this for a moment
my driller did a shorter pin for me on this one 4.5 vs 5 or 5.5
you may have to long a pin for that ball and your style
Sounds like you need more flare to read the lane sooner
I dont know if redrilling it with a shorter pin will cure your over under issues with it though
some balls just dont work well for some of us

Have 2 weeks on the medium sport pattern with this ball
IT is perfect for this pattern
layout, surface, etc
perfect combination of slick cover and pin down layout

Cant say enough about good this piece is
had the Veripapa 300 last night
front 9 last game until i grabbed it a bit in the 10th

I did not have a issue with the disruption at oob finish. I was able to throw it on a 42 foot pattern , and a 44 foot pattern with good results. It is a very clean cover though. I like this because it really finishes hard. I'm yet to see this ball roll out. I'd throw it more if the smackdown would quit doing it's thing. These 2 balls together are a great 1 , 2 punch.
