OK.......I know this has been covered ad infinitum BUT has Col. 300 worked out their problems with the EPX T-1?  Are the ones being sold now good NO cracking problems and if one develops are their distributors standing behind them?

I'm not sure, so don't quote thia as the gospel, but from earlier posts on this subject, I was lead to believe that the EPX T-1's were completely discontinued and that anything out there for sale are just leftover stock from the run they made of them.

  As far as I thought ( or heard ), no more would be made PERIOD, until they had worked out the problem they were having with them, and I have heard NOTHING about them making another run of them.


  If it were me ( and it is because I also have an EPX T-1 ), I am going to assume that anything for sale now is from their original runs and that nothing has been resolved with them. Luckily I only use mine on rare occasions and have had no problems thus far.

  Last I heard, Columbia was taking all actions necessary to replace damaged/cracking balls, but who know how long that will last?

Storm8300,

Seems like Col. 300 has shelved the epoxy/catalyst cover but I am only guessing.  bowlingball.com says they have purchased all remaining EPX T-1 stock from Col. 300.

I guess the Action Attack maybe the heavy oil ball.  Don't know anything about the Big Shot.

Thanks for the info. Storm8300.  I'd like to find a ball for heavy that had the same reaction as my old Vis. Midnight Scorcher.  The EPX T-1 seemed the closest.  For medium-heavy, I use a LM/L Big Bang/P....very good ball probably the ball of the year for me.

I haven't used Col. 300 since Orange Pirahna still use a Col. 300 Blue Dot for spares.  Just ordered a Jinx for dry.

Very condition specific ball. (Very Heavy Oil). You need to know when you are going to use it and when to put back in the bag. For me when the shot dries up (Just a little) this ball goes back in the bag and I replace it with my Full Throttle.

You need the heavy juice for the ball to show its colors you will be able to play lines that no one else can on heavy oil with an EPX, If you buy one now the cover should be okay I am not making any gaurntees though. The early batches is where the problem was the later batches the problem was worked on and the cracking issue was not as large a problem

Great thread so far...

I'm in the market for a heavy ball in the price range the EPX is being sold for (christmas money is burning a hole in my pocket.)

What is your opinion of the EPX versus the Weapon of Mass Bias? Both are currently being offered around the same price.

i believe there is a new version of this ball,  and if i remember correctly,  it is now called the ricochet epx ti.   a the ball is a diferent color then the first make.

we drilled several of them for customers.  balls were bought online,  but i can't remember what dot com they came from.

do know this,   feedback on the new version was great.

not sure, but i think these were a special make up ball for some dist. or online dealer.

If your looking for a stong ball for some oil I would recommend the Action Max this ball loves oil.

There's an overseas version call the Riccochet Rebound EPX-A1. Has the same core as the rebound with the catalyst cover. I have two of them.

Thanks for the replies.

You all had me sold on the EPX and I was set to order one but bb.com dropped the price on the WMB to $49.99. At that price I couldn't resist.

I don't see heavy oil in my league but plan to enter my first local tournament next month. I feel I need to have a heavy oil ball in the bag but I didn't want to spend "new release price" for a ball that will see very limited use.

One of the proshop operators where I bowl was sent a test/comp ball and it was the new EPX ball that won't be out for a while.  I don't have any specs, but it was a bit of a shock to the proshop owner to say the least.

Yes I'm sure that this is the overseas release but I only handle the domestic sales for the mid west, but I think that ball was made the same time the T1 was built.
