EPX-T1 epoxy oil shell secret...
« on: December 27, 2005, 09:08:36 AM »
I was bowling with Brian Alpert(Columbia300 western rep-former PBA) the other day, and he told me that after 40 50  games to take my EPX home and set it in a pot of scolding hot water (not boiling)
and leave it there for 20 minutes til water cools.. When i took the ball out i was wiping thick gobs of lane oil off the ball... It literally sweat all the oil out of the ball... the ball hooks like brand new again.

Brian told me his ball was sweated a few times... his has over 250 games on it.. and it hooks like new.

this technique is for this epoxy shell ONLY!

Try.. you will be amazed.... in the future.. its would be nice to know u can revive a shell in such a way.

He also told me it will absolutly not change, destroy or weaken the balls shell, or its activators.

if u do this with reactive balls.. they will not recover the same way.. and you may loose hook potential

too bad mine cracked...and then was replaced....no love lost here...lol

then again have only seen an amateur throw it on tv...masters...ugh...

and have yet to hear of any "exempt" tour player's using the ball...even in qualifying....

and believe me...if that ball gave an advantage...they would be using it.

Where are you getting your info at?

I would also like to know where he gets his information.  Like, where on earth did he hear that the Absolute Inferno was a particle ball?  And from what source did you get the info about reactive balls not recovering the same if submerged in warm water to sweat out the oil?

The first piece of information is absolutely false.  The cover on the Absolute Inferno is a pearl-reactive.

The second piece of information may be true, but based on other people's and my findings, it is also false.

Where is this info coming from?  Please, let us know ....

i am getting my info from my brain.... the pores of reactive resin remain larger after a scolding hot water bath... epoxy doesn't.

If the pores of a reactive resin shell 'supposedly' (according to you and your source) remain larger after a scalding [which means "to subject to the action of boiling water or steam", (Merriam Webster, scalding)] hot water bath, wouldn't that mean that professional rejuvenation ovens used by proshops would have the same effect?  In essence, wouldn't that mean that proshops have damaged thousand of bowling balls?

Maybe I'm taking this in wrong, but scalding means boiling (or extremely hot).  However, as you have stated, your interpretation of scalding means 'hot but not boiling'.  Majority of people here already know that bowlings balls should not be kept as extreme temperatures - hot or cold.  Warm water, approximately 66*C (150*F) is still 34*C from boiling.  I stronly believe the information you're spurting out is false.

Hey Ice tink,
i got a brunswick document, about the thing of heating balls, and it apparently says that you should heat your ball not above 125 F , around 40 degrees centigrade. Just 4 your info.

Thanks for the info xwenhan.  Regardless, the fact that subjecting any bowling ball to extremely hot temperatures will ruin it remains true.

i find it hard to believe that MoRich would have this method on thier website to clean all of their products if it did indeed lose...anything. i've done this to many of my bowling balls after they had quite a few games on them, including reactive solids, pearls, particle pearls, and particle solids. has never made any of the balls lose anything. just lettin u know.

Hmmm, ive done this before and have had no problems. With the hottest tap water possible and some detergent soap. Might do this this sat. on my vapor zone and rampage as they both have 100+ games on them.

I'm not sure about your Swamp Monster but it really worked well on my Ultimate Inferno. Mustered at least 5-10 boards more out of it than normal. That and add taking the high gloss polish off it with a grey pad. I'm kinda PO that I traded it away just when I started liking it a lot.

Yes its really work. The first time i heard that is @ Simmer. And they did Put a EPX in a kind of hot water and we can see the oil come out. And you can also put CPR ( from Columbia ) in the hot water too, it will give you abit more hook then out of the box.

ONE MORE THING. If you using Thumb Slug please check glue or slug will it too loess. Cause mine thumb slug go abit deeper after put the the EPX in abit too hot hot water. As you all know EPX is a little bit easy to get crack so please take a good care of yours EPX.
