Just threw this ball yesterday in my house!

Me throwing and some others throwing in it's highly polished state on the right.

This ball is very even and wraps back in smoothly with a touch of POP.

Pin in ring finger.

I liked it enough that I'm going to drill for the left side.

I had thrown these suckers lefty before and felt the same thing very controllable and smooth for medium heavy oil!

Not really, I"ve torn it up with a Blue Pulse in the past.
A reaction Roll has been my heavy oil ball for a couple of years.

Reaction Rip has been good at times for me.

Ego I've loved and reviewed.

So I've been around the Columbia gang for awhile.

PS just picked up a Detour and then traded it for a Pirahna Retro.

Hey Lefty, I just got a brand new 15lb Pearl Pulse Remake(orange Pin).  Can't wait to throw it in league tonight.  Now if I could only find one more and one more Red Pulse and a NIB Ti Messenger Pearl I'll bowl with nothing else for the rest of the season.

Super bad news about the Pearl Pulse.  After about a total of 9 games on the ball, I got a crack from the middle finger all the way down the left side of the ball measuring 7 inches.  This happened halfway through the 2nd game.  I finished out the second game with a 225 then I started noticing thumping over the crack.  The only other ball I had with me was a dull Goliath on a medium-light house shot.  Third game was a disasterous 150 with the Goliath.

So years after searching for a New Pearl Pulse, I find one, use it 9 games, it cracks....Now I gotta start the search over.

Worst. League. Night. Ever.

Thanks Columbia!

Which is the reason I stopped throwing Columbia. Too many cracking balls. Even those that hadn't seen glue, or been exposed to temperature extremes, or had the bridge drilled too narrow. I didn't have any trouble with the Superflex coverstocks, but the Muscle coverstocks were the worst.
Tired of excuses - I'm gone.
Haven't had a Brunswick crack yet - and I've drilled up a ton of them in the last year.

It's funny the cover you mention you had no problem with is the one that cracked on his Pulse.  Maybe that just means you had bad luck with some icon series balls.  I myself had a million original Icons (great ball, especially for pba patterns) icon 2's, icon300's and never had one crack.  I think everyone here could name a company or cover they've had issues with while drilling or throwing, but most of us, like myself, dont get on forums and flame them.  If you dont like them anymore, great, move along, but really, save the typing energy for more productive things like world peace.

No flame intended. Just the facts - I just stated my experiences and observations. I'll use my typing energy where I feel it should be used. I pay my Internet provider bill every month on time and still have some life left in the fingers.

That's easy to fix if you have access to a ball spinner. Give it a nice 600 to 800 grit finish, then finish the job using rubbing compound with a damp rag. Rubbing compound should be the final step on an Icon - NOT sandpaper or polish. Turtle wax rubbing compound or a similar product should do the trick. After you have that nice dull semi-gloss, clean it with a ball cleaner and it should react the same as the factory box finish.

Finally got to throw this baby on the left today after plugging.

Used the exact same drilling as the righty!

Pin in ring and cg with about a 1/2 inch kick out!
4 1/2 X 3 1/2 for me!

This ball moves exactly like I saw on right with my limited righty release and when my righty friends threw.

Smooth consistent and quite a strong rounded to sharp move back to the hole on a slight inside swing shot.

This ball reminded me of yesterdays steel colored Boss.

Af first I was really slammin the hole and then all of a sudden I had to move back to the left hard and fast as a little carrydown set in.

Soon the ball seemed to go away in the carry dept while still describing a great arc on the lanes giving way quickly to balls such as my razor wire.

Carrydown dud?

Opinions?

Hard to imagine an Icon caring much about oil downlane. More likely the strong surface is causing the ball to lose energy too soon. The Icon picks up/absorbs the oil on your line through the heads. On a house shot, a better move for a lefty is to get just a bit further right with your feet to find more head oil - adjust speed/revs/rotation to get it back to the hole. I see a lot of people thinking that "carrydown" is affecting their carry when in fact it's the oil depletion in the heads and/or early midlane causing their strong surfaced ball to use itself up too early.

Oooops should have said highly polished Icon!

In addition what surprised me is how hard it was tomohawking(I know, MY spelling of that word) the 7 pin with a vicous chop to the knees!  CRACK!

Then after continuing to strike with a Razor Wire I had to bounce about two boards left with the razor to continue to strike.

With the Icon started back up and left a bucket from initial position!

Moved left 5 boards and nearly flush but left a flat 7.
Moved another board left and the ball looked very energetic and absolutely flush with a beautiful move.  Ring Ring!

I'd remove the highly polished part of that deal, but thats just me :0  I had a few of these, and the box "compound" finish was the most forgiving, and the carry was always great.  That high gloss to me just asks for over/under and wraps.
