Momentum Swing/Total Bedlam/Power swing
« on: February 03, 2010, 12:53:05 AM »
Pulled out my Momentum Swing last night for league.  Had a good night and questioned why I quit taking the ball to this house.

I've been interested in picking up one of the latest and greatest releases.  I had my choices narrowed down to the following:

Total Bedlam
Invasion
Mania

You may have noticed all 3 are strong assy balls.  I've been hit or miss with strong assy and far more success with mild assy or sym cored balls.  So, I took a peak at the Power Swing in comparison to my Momentum Swing.  The covers are the same, the covers are slightly different.

I'm curious if anybody has thrown both the Power Swing and Momentum Swing?  Any comparison to the Total Bedlam would be appreciated as well.

All applicable specs are in my profile.

i have both. drilled about the same. Power swing 5 1/4 pin above finger in box, and momentum swing is 5½ pin above fingers in 1000. in my opinion the power swing is longer and stronger. the momentum is pretty soon and smooth and i found the power swing to be a good step down, and move a couple of boards left. both have incredible hitting power.

Agreed.......

The cover is supposed to be the same but the core in the PS is a bit weaker. It helps the ball push downlane a bit and store energy better. Even taking the surface down, the ball gets downlane very easy. The MS is also a bit rollier, it doesn't rev up as quick but still makes a very solid move off the spot. The TB is a completely different animal. Its sooner than both on the lane and will want plenty of oil in the heads to keep from rolling out.

I appreciate the responses.  Looks like I'll be going with the TB.

I simply loved the Power Swing when I had it. It would be longer than the Momentum Swing but very aggressive in the midlane and backend. Takes surface adjustment very well. Easily a great benchmark ball to have.

Im assuming had it, as in, it got old got rid of it. Buddies pro shop has 15lb power swings on sale for 89.95 with a columbia towel and grip sack... I love my power swing....

At any rate, I've got both. MS definately begins to hook earlier vs the PS. Im not going to add much on a comparasion though, because my MS is a plugged ball and it tends to hook ALOT compared to other peoples MS' and I wonder if the core got altered by the plugging.

Well good question and good response Koukigs.

Definetly possible that the core might have been altered but it might be that you may have a layout on your MS that is more suited for your style of bowling. A lot of variables there.

Now comparing the MS to Power Swing.  MS is going to be a more mid-lane than the Power and smoother than the Power Swing. The Power Swing is going to get you down the lane a little further(cleaner through front part of lane) and come off the spot a little stronger.

Although I am a Columbia Staffer I do keep an open mind on other equipment for the consumer.

I'd probably recommend the Total out of the options you have been narrowed down to. The Totals gonna pick up the mid lane similar to the Momentum Swing out of box surface and will be a little more angular and stronger off the point then the MS. I'd probably say if you want more of a continuous hook you will have a good winner in the Total Bedlam.

Let me know if you have more questions that I could help you out with.
