Super Trooper

I am looking into purchasing a Super Trooper as the second ball in an arsenal that I am considering. I've done a great deal of web research on the ball, and I wanted to know if anyone at present is still throwing the ball, and could provide more updated feedback other than what is currently on the ballreviews. com site?

Super Trooper as a second ball would depend on what the first ball is and what you bowl on....

I have one but seldom get to use it anymore. Pin is under ring finger and it currently has 500 abralon and no polish. I drilled it up for second shift or drier conditions. I am RH with medium speed and revs. Ball is smooth and is easy to control. Before I switched to MoRich, I used it alot with some sucess. I prefer to play deep inside on a THS and this ball was not for that for me. However, it was my go to ball on beat up wood lanes with high oil volume in middle and dry outside. I still carry it and is my #2 choice behind Shock & Awe on above mentioned wood lanes.

The ball I currently bowl is a White Dot. I am a beginner..meaning I've bowled before using house balls, but now I'm looking to take bowling more seriously and competively. Looking to join a league, etc.. I was consider a Scout Reactive as a second ball, but from what I've read about the Super Trooper, the Trooper is a step or few steps above the Scout, and there's more you can do with a Trooper than a Scout Reactive. Let me know if I'm off base with this line of thinking. Also, if the Trooper isn't a good ball to consider, can you suggest one that's a better choice? I need to make frugal and wise choice given a tight budget.

Super Trooper is a good a ball. Chris Barnes threw one on TV a couple of years ago. It is a few steps up from a white dot. Unless you are a high speed, low revs guy on heavy oil, it will be a good choice and probably fairly cheap. I was away from bowling for 15 years and came back in 2004. I had 300's and 800's with $35.00 balls shortly after my return!

Well I still throw the Super Trooper as my go too ball.  I have been using it for the past 2 seasons.  This ball is very smooth through the heads and great recovery on the back end.  Mine is drilled for strong arch reaction.   The Super Trooper longevity in coverstock is unmatched too any other ball in my arsenal as it now has over 1200 games on it.  As you stated being a beginner I think this may be a good choice as the next step. I just shot my first 300 using the Super Trooper Oct. 17 this year.

The Super Trooper is the greastest ball ever made. I have had mine for over 2 years now. It EASILY has over 750 games on it and it still works very well. It is not a ball to be used for on fresh oily lanes, but like the others said, once it starts drying up, it's a monster. It has always been my go to ball in tournaments and has won me plenty of money in tournaments. I even have another NIB super trooper in my closet, incase my current one ever cracks or something of that sort. If you are debating between a Scout and a Super Trooper, I would for sure say get a Super Trooper.

I'd like to thank all of you who responded to my post about the Super Trooper. Your input has really helped with solidfying my decision to purchase a Trooper as the second ball in my growing arsenal. If anyone runs across a 14lbs Trooper on the web, please let me know.

Um, why?  Looks like a serious post about people still liking and looking for a Super Trooper.  It's actually a ball I've given some thought about.  Low RG, low differential - light oil control ball.  Orbit Extreme and the Jolts (and a few others that are escaping me right now) should give a similar look and are currently available.

FYI If you can't find a Super Trooper, the AMF Orbit Extreme and the Dyno-Thane Crisis Solid are all in the same vein: highly polished Super-Flex solid coverstock over medium RG core with low flare. All 3 balls are within a eye-lash of ball reaction of one another.

The Super Trooper was the ball I chose when I got back into bowling 3 yrs ago.  I will agree with just about everything said so far.  The ball is very forgiving, has a nice controllable arcing backend, and the core keeps the pins mixing really well.  I currently still have the ball in my aresenal as my low to medium oil ball.  The only shortcoming I've found with the ball is when I encounter a lane with burnt heads and/or mids.  Ball will react early on these conditions, but then you'd probably be using a different ball anyway.

I've shot a 296 (choke!) with this ball and both my 770's.  Nothing flashy with this ball, but I know exactly what I'm going to get out of it, and it's very easy to read the lanes with this ball.  And like was said, the coverstock's endurance is unmatched.  

Basicaly, when you get this ball, you should just have your proshop put your name on the thing, as you'll never get rid of it.

Translation...thanks for all the info on the Super Trooper...I'm buying a trooper.

So these other Billy ID's that were generated within a few weeks of each other, that aren't even part of this post, are a problem?  I thought Bill was a pretty common name, and having 300 as part of your name is already popular here.

I finally picked up a ball released about the same time (Roto Grip Retro Red).  If I make a thread asking about other's experiences, would I be a spoofer?  There is a strider2k1 that has no posts that joined 4 months later than me in 2001.  I guess that's my future pack poster?

I think I know what a spoofer is, and I don't see anything about billy2gun's posts that would put him in that catagory.
