Violent Eruption

 I drilled my violent Eruption pretty standard, pin above the fingers in between the two. I usually try this drilling first on skid/flip type balls. All I can say about this ball is WOW. I have bowled on Sport patterns and league and this ball is a beast on both. Bowled on Dead mans curve is a Tournament and opened up the entire lane, while the rest of the field struggled. Ball also works awesome in league and as the lanes fry out, just keep moving left and this ball comes back from anywhere and explodes through the pins! My favorite ball of the season by Columbia!

I picked this up last week, gives you nice length with a strong move to the pocket.  Entry angle, pin mix and carry percentage very good.  Best uses for medium to breaking down conditions.  Seems to be great ball to open up the lanes with ease...

The VE is a great edition to the Columbia line up. Their using a core that has been very popular and proven. I layed mine out 60 x 4-1/2 x 40. This puts the pin up and right of ring a half inch withe the cg kicked out and weight hole in the P2 spot. The ball gives me and early roll with a continuous arc on the backend. It can be a little more angular when the there is a lot of friction on the backend. I like that this ball is versate and responsive to different hand positions. I have not tried altering the surface yet. In comparing this ball I would have to say that the VE is an almost replica of the Ebonite V2 Vortex Pearl for all those who remember that ball.

This ball is the business. I've thrown mine dull and with some shine and like it both. I want another one with a weaker pin. Reminds me of the old V2 and Inferno types of reaction that many customers like.

I hope C300 will continue to use the core on varying coverstocks in the future. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and this is far from "broke."

In your opinion, what is a good ball up or down from the VE? Besides Columbia, any track or hammer stuff. I was thinking of the Track 706A or Arson Pearl.

Yes. It is a Pearl. Up from the violent eruption would be the encounters and omens and below would be the freezes

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in this ball.  When I first got it, it was a beast.  After maybe 30 games or so, it's a shell of its former self.  I clean it, the pro shop says the coverstock looks fine, but it just doesn't react.  I don't even carry it in the bag anymore.  I haven't seen others complaining about this, so I wonder if the ball is defective in some way...

Looks can be deceiving... after 30 games the flare area on the ball could be rough enough to completely change the ball's characteristic reaction.

Also 30 games is plenty of time for the ball to have absorbed oil to affect the ball reaction. Just because it's polished doesn't mean that it  does not absorb oil.

I baked it today and it certainly had soaked up more oil than I expected.  We'll see how it goes.
