Why so few posts on Columbia?
« on: June 14, 2004, 12:26:13 AM »
I really like their stuff.

Yet all of sudden people don't seem to have the interest.

Balls I've seen having big games, WIRED, Ego, Reaction Rip, Detour, Formula, Icon 2, Icon, Reaction Rev, Throttle, Full Throttle, Throttle/R, Alter Ego.

How come more people aren't into this stuff!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS love my EGO (especially now that out of box sheen off) and have traded for a Detour and amassed enough money for a Formula!

I use to support columbia more than my wife and kids, I just got tired of having to buy new balls when they died so I moved on to more durable equipment. I have been wanting an ego and detour something bad though. I just cant seem to get a good deal on either as of late.

I don't have much to say.
Whenever I convince myself to buy a Columbia ball, someone else (storm or Brunswick usually) has something that matches up just as well for me.

The only columbia ball I own is a rev I bought a year ago from a friend. Still do like that ball, though!

This has to be the most rediculously funny thing I've ever read

I've seen a backup bowler at 21 mph throw 19 in a row with a white dot....big deal.  The ball can't roll itself

Because it sucks.  I used to throw a few Columbia balls but they never did anything for me.  Didn't like how they hit or carried either.

LL, I think a lot of the problem is that Columbia has given themselves a bad reputation of poor quality, cracking balls, balls not lasting, balls dieing, and etc. And then there may be people like myself that have tried several Columbia Balls without success. We hear of people on this site talking about not matching up with balls from certain companies and apparently Columbia has become one of those companies. Anyhow, it has for me and others that I know.
I could be wrong here, but at this time that is my opinion.

Let me be a little more detailed and succinct in my comments so they move beyond the foolish stage.

I have an EGO it is unique, different and awesome.  Incredible rev and drive.
UFD coverstock.

I have friends with the Wired.  They both love it.  One is on an 800 tear he believes is only part him.  He thinks the ball is unique and different.

A friend and I threw the Formula.  Supposedly the ball is close to the Icon 2, we didn't think so.  We felt core movement was different, special and just plain old somethin else!

We noted the core is similar to Detour and read reviews and said, hmmm more of that core that could be special!

Have a Detour and now money for NIB Formula available at my friendly internet account.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS have a friend that has a Wild, he thinks it's the mammary glands of a Playboy playmate(other word edited out).  He's an idiot, (he just had an 851 with it, 5 on last ball!).  He said he could have done it with a caramel white dot, NOT!!

I've had nothing but success with columbia.  In the last two years i've had five 300's, four 299's an 824 an 834 and several high 700's.  I used the old urethane beast, black and teal wicked and the formula and done very well.  This is really only my second year of serious bowling but I couldn't be any more pleased with columbia.

Other columbia balls i've had success with are the wild, scout, messenger and pearl beast.

Well Channel Surfer, looks like the majority have all had similiar experiences with Columbia (including my self) and that is why they don't use the Columbia balls. Hey, if they work for you thats great, but when they don't work for the majority, don't expect them to buy/use them.

I have the Wired, the ego,the detour and the throttle up all are much better balls than the old tec and tec2 balls were. I personally bowled with Wendy MacPherson all year long in a scratch league and this lady can just flat out bowl!!! I do not how much of it was her or the new columbia balls but those babys are bombs hitting the pocket, let me tell you big strapping fellows here she throws the ball faster than 90 percent of you do, i throw 18.5 and i would bet she is equal to me in speed at the arrows. She uses her legs and is pretty strong for a chick and is just a great person and bowler, very funny humble about her game and never rubs it in on the boys when she tears you apart on the lanes.

It seems no one is really getting the picture..

Older stuff from columbia did blow, that i will admit. However, anything from the Throttle and up is great. It seems like a whole new company.

The Throttle is a terrible ball!  The balls in the past were junk and the newer stuff is too.  I'd throw Lane #1 before C300.  Wait, lets rethink that!
