Site is turning to crap!

We are not seeing some of the most intelligent posters ie Bob Hanson and many of our other top dogs appear to be sickening of this site.

I know I am a little discouraged with it for the first time in four years.

Why, less real users and more spoofers!

Those with too much time on their hands and who are putting in a lot of time ruining it for all of us who really enjoy learning about bowling on this site!

WARP ZONE for example.

Go to the reviews of the Warp zone.  I for one am really interested in this ball.

I've gone 6 times to the site and read some dopey meant to be funny review and then a bunch of comments to the guy!  

NOTHING about the ball!

This the same guy who drills so that he can see label, or sands so he can get a flat side!  Now anyone can know, no one is REALLY this stupid.

However, those who haven't been watching him are pulled in.

Is this what are site is down to?  Just this?

Bruce Hamilton where are you???

I am wondering when the this place is going to write a terms of usage and then start banning ppl for crap like this. Make these ppl agree to this before ever signing up. Where are the moderators @ I keep hearing they are coming but have yet to see any action.

What is sad is that new users coming to this site for the first time now think that the place to place messages is in the Reviews section.  I PM'd one individual after reading a question from him/her in the Reviews section and politely (I hope) advised him/her on what the forums were for and what the Reviews section was for.  I did see the same post later on in the forums from that person.  I do not blame the newcomers for this, I blame the spoofers who are setting this example for them.

I agree, let's keep that kind of humor (spoof reviews) and regular conversations in the Misc sections, not in the Reviews.

I agree also.

Did you happen to read the review on the flashpoint?

Nothing to do about it, but something about plummers WTF.

I too missed the times of old when there was a ton of knowlege
to be learned.

I don't know what is happening now.
Bruce better do something or his investment will go down the tubes.

I haven't been on in over a week which is quite a bit when you're bored at the office, but I haven't missed it either.  This morning when I signed in to see that Bowlers Aid Mandy crap it just reminded me maybe some bowlers don't really need advice after all...

It is discouraging to see all the nonsense posted everywhere else except the correct forum.

I guess I will have to quit recommending this site to ANYONE that is interested in bowling stuff the F'ing review section has become a joke and the clones and crap are going to drive everyone that is worth anything away. Oh well just another great site shot down by idiots.

A better title for my post would have been.

I love and have loved this site.
There are large groups of outstanding users and contributors on this site!

Magic Carpet(who I just saw(another post elsewhere soon), Tgod, Constantine,
Pchee2, Nicanor, Precision, King of the MIll, Brian N, Brickguy, Ric Clint,
Livespice, Aussie Lefty, Brenton Davy, DrillWizard, Dicnic, Sawbones, Hose!!!
Too many other great guys to mention, Doc Hollywood, SrKegler, Jeff Carter,
many many many others and too many good ones I may have left some off!

We guys who love this site and the bowling interaction can get Bruce Hamilton to do something!!  This site is too fun, and too good for the knowledge to let this crap continue!!!!

Hip Hip Ha Ballreviews!!!

I know I have enjoyed and want to continue to enjoy this site and the knowledge I get from it!!!  Let's all figure out how to get this back to the great site it was and will be!

I also agree with you LL. I have noticed myself beginning to visit this site less and less on a daily basis due to the ignorant and idiotic posts, comments and reviews that some people are making.

There is too much of this going on lately and it needs to be stopped. Otherwise, I feel many of the "regulars" like myself will soon disappear and this site will be left with nothing.

I agree with everything said.  I wrote a post just like this about 2 weeks ago, but deleted it before posting.  I thought if we all ignored them for a while, they would get bored and move on.  I loved participating in all versions of the Anything Goes Forum.  When we had such a place, most of the really goofy stuff stayed there.  Now it leaks to all the forums.

I'll read the reviews if there's something in particular I'm interested in buying, but there never really have been that many good reviewers.  Too many "hooks and hits a ton" reviews, even from well meaning people.

We are addressing this today.  It's hard to stop stupidity - people are still going to be free to say dumb things.  However, we are going to delete posts with profanity, delete users posting profanity, and install a profanity screen that will hopefully keep people from posting foul language.  

It's impossible to check all forum sections to see if anyone is posting something silly or off topic so I'll ask for help in chasing these guys out of town.  If you see something inappropriate, please email info@ballreviews.com and please include a link to the page that contains the material that needs to be removed.  Sometimes we get mail saying that there is an inappropriate post but we have no idea where to find it.  If you provide a link or a complete description of where to find the garbage, we'll take it down.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the info, but it's inanity, not profanity, that's the problem.  Most of the profanity filters I've seen are even less than worthless.  Like the one on pba.com that turns everything that ends in the letter "a" into "***".  Weird!

I'm not applying for the job of junior admin, but honestly, it would take all of about an hour a day to clean up the crap and the worthless reviews.

And to the rest of you, please, just ignore posts and reviews by people you've come to learn are just jerking you around.  Don't even read what they post.  I'm constantly amazed when I see a known jackass (oops, was that profane?  See what I mean?) post a message, and it gets viewed over a hundred times.
