Abralon A+
« on: April 12, 2008, 04:58:56 AM »
I've always used sand paper or Scotch Brite pads in the past.  I picked up a set of Abralon (500-1000-2000-4000) a few weeks ago just to try them out.  I've only been bowling on THS lately so I hadn't changed any surfaces.  I'm going to a tournament on the Viper pattern today and wanted to change the surface on my Black Widow Bite from the 4000 box condition.  I've sanded plenty of balls to 1500 or 2000 grit with sand paper, but the 2000 grit Abralon is MUCH easier to use.  I guess a combination of the size/shape, thickness/foam backing, and the sanding material itself is great.  I never felt like I had to be super careful with the pad slipping from my hand, it holds water better, and I didn't feel like I had to use excessive pressure to get the job done.  The ball looks better/more consistent, and it took less time and effort than with sand paper.  I'm definitely going to look for some bulk supplies of this stuff.  I see why the manufacturers starting using this stuff so much.
