Best Polish available?
« on: January 12, 2009, 12:59:14 AM »
I am looking for a Polish that can give me monsterous backends. I only have one polish (Beans Secret Sauce) and was hoping to get some input before getting another kind. Want something to put on my One Pearl to have huge backends without the dull look. Thanks!

rvmark, I wasn't name slinging, I was pointing out that A) it comes in smaller sizes, and B) it's cheaper to buy it locally.  I didn't direct my barb at anyone directly, but if you pay $30 + shipping for it, you haven't done your homework my good man.

Sleepy LaBeef,

I was simply trying to state that your comment could have been made without using the term moron.

I was having a probelm not having backends with my one pearl last week when i first threw it but after buffing off the factory polish and bringing it back up to a 4000 abralon finish (no polish yet) the backends have started to show up and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with this ball.

Based on your explanation s_hemker, you really didn't need additional "backend", you needed the ball to read the mids sooner which is probably what happened when you removed the factory polish.

This is a big misconception for many bowlers when a ball doesn't finish strong or hard enough.  Most think or say they need a ball with "more" backend when in actuality they need more midlane read.  If we can get midlane read, it then gives us the backend reaction.  Hope this helps explain some...

Please define what is "best"?

IMHO, it depends on what you want to achieve, and there are differences between the products and product concepts.

If I was to have 10 people helping me for every one person being a "jackass" I would be completely fine with that. I know people can be rude on forums but you get that everywhere. As long as I know there will always be nice people around helping with my problems and I greatly appreciate that!

Thanks everyone!

Nope, and it is kind of expensive, $30 per quart PLUS shipping.

Repeat: Try some Snake Oil. They sell sample sizes.

Hey charlest, you can buy this in 16oz. sizes:

http://www.properautocare.com/3mfiniimacpo.html

Also, you can buy this stuff at just about any auto body / parts store in your area, and I have never paid even close to $30 for a quart. If you have, you're a moron who doesn't know how to shop around.

Twitch 1 you did miss something...

I use both the sauce and 3m polishes. I also like track clean n sheen. They serve different purposes, although you can achieve your goal with either by adjusting the surface under the polish, and controlling the amount of polish and shine put on the ball.

If you are trying to deal with burnt heads and dryer midlanes, use the Sauce with no less than 1000 grit surface, and bring the ball to a modest shine. Any less surface (or excessive shine), and you will see a decrease in backend action.

The 3m finesse it is less sensitive to surface changes, meaning I have not used it on any ball and seen it make the ball skid as the sauce will on less surface.

If I had to pick one polish, it would be the 3m, followed by the clean n sheen and then the sauce, primarily because the sauce is so temperamental.

I still don"t see anything specific about where you buy 32oz bottle of finesse it for less than $30.00. Tried six different auto places in my area 44.95 for a quart. This is why i would like to see a actual store name.THANKS

Twitch, I think thats part of the problem, the size in the link provided is 16 oz.  a quart is 32 oz..    I have looked it up and would agree that I have not found any price that would put it at $30 or less for a quart.

Someone on this site had it for sale for that price ($30.00) shipped a few months ago if I remember correctly.

Here is some for 11.96 for 16oz.. Don't know what shipping is

http://www.autobarn.net/mmm39003.html?site=google_base

also... if you want a super shine with no waxes or silicones..
Look for something called pro-polish from a rock polishing supply store.
This stuff is 0.5 micron
It is a "poor mans" tin-oxide, which is better but alot more expensive.
You can get it from here. It isn't listed on their site but call and ask for it.  Just take a pinch on a damp towel and then spray it with a water bottle till it gets into a slurry.. Deep super shine that will get the ball down the lane.
