Best Polish available?
« on: January 12, 2009, 12:59:14 AM »
I am looking for a Polish that can give me monsterous backends. I only have one polish (Beans Secret Sauce) and was hoping to get some input before getting another kind. Want something to put on my One Pearl to have huge backends without the dull look. Thanks!

3M Finesse-It II, WAY cheaper than Secret Sauce, and fantastic results.

....plus 3M Finesse-It II won't cause your ball to skid thru the break point like the Secret Sauce does. I used 3M Finesse-It II with good results for several years, but since that time, Valentino's Snake Oil has become my favorite.

Where is the best place to get this product? I search online and find so many different kinds and not sure which one is the one you guys are talking about.

Finesse-It II is made for auto body work, so check with a shop that sells products for that.  --  JohnP

I guess it depends on the conditions you face, and what you want the polish to do, but for me it's Snake Oil!

Is 3M Finesse-It II available in anything smaller than the quart bottle? Thats the smallest one I can find but don't want to get something that big since I haven't tried it yet. Thanks

Nope, and it is kind of expensive, $30 per quart PLUS shipping.

Repeat: Try some Snake Oil. They sell sample sizes.

The strength of the Snake Oil for me is that it allows the ball to pick up the midlane a little earlier, and THEN a strong back end move.

If all you want is to get lots of skid, nearly any high gloss polish will do the job. Incidentally, if you'll put more surface underneath most polishes that will also help your ball to not "over skid".

Maybe it is just me, but I thought that you could buy that at a place like an Ace Hardware Store.  I remember someone years ago saying that.

s_hemker,

When it arrives, let me know if you're having any trouble with it. Proper surface prep can really help a bunch.  I'm also certain that Kevin at Valentino's would be happy to help.

Your order is going to go out today, our polish is pretty foolproof, you can't over polish.

We recommend a 600 to 800 grit surface before applying Snake Oil for a snappy backend, if you want something to skid alittle further try 1000 to 1500. Either way you will be pleased with the results.
