Cold = Coverstock DisColoration
« on: July 26, 2006, 06:54:15 AM »
I left a ball out in the cold in winter, and it left the cover with whitish marks/fade all over certain parts of the ball. Can i restore the original cover? Will a Resurface do the trick?

Bowl with it.  You won't see a change in reaction and soon the lane oil will bring back the original color.

agree with the above posts.  (EDIT, Forgot about one ball) 2 brunswicks and one hammer coverstock have done that too me.

I dont keep the balls outside but it still happens.  No change in reaction, just looks kinda wierd

I had it happen with a Chaos.  I think it isn't so much the cold as moisture - the Chaos sat in a couple of inches of water when the basement flooded and that's where it discolored.

The ball has Phazed, you can get this out with some Aceston.

the key to this whole topic is to always leave your bowling balls in an area where they stay room temperature( 60-80 degrees ). the chemical combinations that make up modern bowling balls are very temperature sensitive.

Ive noticed the reaction of a ball when its cold doesnt hit quite as well as when its room temperature.
