Saw this at the local NAPA and decided to give it a try on my bowling ball.
Tested it out on a ball I don't really like to see what happens. Sprayed it down, lot it soak for a few minutes, wiped it off with a paper towel, and the ball came out feeling very clean with a nice tacky feel.
It looked like it was actually drawing oil out and beading up as it soaked.

I may have stumbled onto a GOOD cheap cleaner here. It seems like it should be pretty safe to use, I don't see anything about it that looks like it would be harmful to a ball.

And it differs from Simple Green how?

And who says it will never harm bowlingballs?

I used it today on my hands and arms after changing brakes, axles, and ball joints on my wifes van. Simple Green (which I've used alot) doesn't hold a candle to this stuff. Cuts grease as good as anything I've ever seen, yet it's still mild enough to wash your hands with.

You got me, who says it will never harm bowling balls

When bowling ball companies market cleaners don't you think they test the cleaner to see if it may harm their balls? Isn't that common sense??

If you use a cleaner NOT marketed by a bowling ball company, who tests to see if it harms a bowling ball? ANyone? Not likely?
So what assurance do you have that it will not harm a bowling ball?

I am not risking my $200 to test your cleaner. That's for darned sure, to be very polite!!!!! Don't give a darn how good it removes grease! There are plenty of great ball specific cleaners available. Don't care how cheap you are.

Passing on correct information doesn't make him a 'dick'.

It seems that every week, someone is touting a new cleaner because it happens to be cheaper than a piece of bubble gum. Charlest is just issuing a fair warning.

That's the only fact that's relevant. Cheap or not, it has not been tested and approved for bowling ball use. So nobody can say with certainty if the product performs gradual damage to balls.

There are too many really good cleaners (Clean N' Dull, HookIt, etc.) to take a chance on untested stuff. Why take the risk?

To me Clean and dull is by far my favorite bowling ball cleaner. I would never use anything else. Hopefully they don't discontinue it.

Clean and dull happens to be one of the best cleaners out there , but feel free to use whatever you like no one said you couldn't

its funny how much people complain when someone disagrees with their opinion

you can use just about any cleaner you want (as long as its approved of course) but why not use what has been proven to work? CLEAN N' DULL

its GREAT and it seems to last WAY longer then any other cleaner. I bought a big 32 oz bottle 2 years ago and clean my equipment (twice a week), my brothers (once a week) and my friends and (i use a LOT at once) I still have half the bottle left. IMO thats cheaper and more effective then any mix that someone can come up with.

I bought a 32 oz bottle about 2 years ago, and my experience is the same. A little goes a long ways. I think that 32 oz C&D is going to outlive me....

But the list of great cleaners is not limited to C&D. I've found NeoTac Hook-It to be just as effective, and there are probably a few others that blow away any home grown brew.

Look at the big picture before trying untested/unapproved products.
