Marble type shine
« on: December 22, 2003, 12:53:38 AM »
For those of you with a spinner, how do you get your stuff to shine likne a marble?  I wet sand up to 1000 grit and use several different polishes but the balls (all reactive) don't shine up enough.  Should I go up to 1500 grit?  Any advice is appreciated

I would say 1500, and if that still is not enough, go to 2000, I wouldnt go much higher. And if you STILL dont get the shine you want, maybe give some other polishes a try. Why do you want to so shiny anywayz? haha

After buying my spinner, I soon discovered that too much shine can be a bad thing on a reactive ball. Most of them are too jumpy if you give them a smoother finish than the factory shine. Especially the pearl reactives. Now spare balls are another story. The more shine the better. I usually get up to 1000 wet sand, then hit it with Turtle Wax rubbing compound, followed by Turtle Wax polishing compound. Put a little bit of control it or some other non-reactive type polish and you have a "dart".

When I sand, I usually go to 1500 with my stuff.  After that, I use Number 7 red rubbing compound followed by 2 coats of Number 7 white polishing paste.  It works for me!
