New Neo-Tac Products: Hook Plus and Glide

I was just given sample bottles of two new Neo-Tac products to test out. One is labeled Hook Plus, which looks to be a ultra strong version of Hook-It. The other, which is labeled Glide, appears to be similar to Renew-It, with a stronger polishing agent.


I've been able to test out Hook Plus. It seems to clean every bit as effective as Hook-It. The product removes all belt marks, flare rings, oil shine, and other gunk from the ball. I've only used it once, but it doesn't seem to leave any more "Tac" than Hook-It. I'll test it more across different surface types before making any final judgements.


I haven't had the opportunity to test Glide at all. I'm going to apply it on a ball I'm planning to use tomorrow night, so I'll have a better feel for the product then.


Has anyone had the opportunity to use either of these newer Neo-Tac products? I'd welcome any real world related input.

Wow Hook-it could dissolve a vinyl a floor as it was, how much stronger could they make it.

I liked Hook-it I'll have to watch out for that stuff.

Who sells Neo-Tac Hook-IT still?   Or for that matter the older Neo-Tac products seem hard to find.  The only Hook-IT that I am aware of is the Brunswick packaged version.

Where on the USBC (approved/not approved) lists are these products?

Neo-Tac Glide

Delays hook and creates skid and distance on all types of bowling balls.
Lane oil remains above the surface.
Great for plastic balls.

I believe the Brunswick packaged Hook-It is not made by Brunswick, but by Neo-Tac. It is packaged with the Brunswick name, because Brunswick is marketing Neo-Tac's product.

I wonder if the Neo Technoligies approved/not approved products also include the Brunswick labeled ones.  My guess is no.  Have to ask USBC I'd think.

I'm wondering if some of the New DV8 cleaners are really Neo-Tac products in different packaging and labeling. I'm tired of purchasing new/old products to see if they are what they say they are or something else. I have plenty of good stuff now.

DV8's Good Hook sounds a lot like Hook-It, but much more expensive!!!

I've never had problems getting their products, pre or post Brunswick. When my local proshop is occasionally out of Hook-It (ironically when I need it), he puts an order into his distributor and it's delivered in the next day or two. Neo-Tac hasn't been out of business at any point over the past 15 years I've been using their stuff.


I'm curious to see if these are new additional products, or replacements for Hook-It and/or Renew-It. Right now, I'm not seeing a meaningful difference between Hook-It and Hook Plus.

I looked for their products yesterday on several internet sites that used to carry them under the Brunswick brand name. I see both Brunswick and Neo-Tac branded bottles of different types, but very scattered and I never saw Hook-It.

Maybe since Brunswick came out with the Royal Shine and the DV8 brand of cleaners, Neo-Tac will go back to selling their products under their own nameagain.

Question what's the difference in Hook-It vs. Renew-It and where does Restore-It fall into line with these products?

I found the original Hook-It to be as good as LMI cleaner for removing ball lines, lane shine, etc and as good for after bowling before putting away equipment.

I also found on-line that Neo-Tac products were hit and miss and not easy to find from one supplier.

Renew-It has a light polish mixed with the cleaner, although I don't know what the grit is. I'm guessing charlest might. You can actually use Renew-It on a spinner to get a decent shine. By hand, it's a much more gradual process. I limit use of Renew-it mostly to my Pearl equipment.


Hook-It doesn't have polish mixed in. Just a pure industrial strength ball cleaner. It takes everything off the ball. I stopped using it on my Storm IQ Tour Pearl when I noticed the yellow ball coloring come off on the towel. It does also has some chemical additions that leave a sticky "Tac" feel on the surface.


I've never tried Restore-It. I'm already in liquid and compound overload.  ;)

When I asked Neo-Tac several years back, they told me that Renew-it finishes a ball at 2000 grit. I took that with a grain of salt, as even sanded balls read on the surface scanner at a higher number than you sand them with.

I do know that Renew-it contains polish and a small amount of Hook-It, a very powerful cleaner. I wonder how much abrasive is in it, since it is so watery BUT it does put an immediate shine on any ball I've tried it. Personally I find it very useful to restore a shine on a ball that's gotten worn from use on too little oil.

I have tried Restore-it and it seems ok as a polish; as far as I can tell, it's just a polish. I don't use it very often, in fact, hardly. It's an older product that I have not seen for sale on any web site in recent times. Maybe it wasn't or hasn't been a popular as Renew-It???
