I loaned my friend my S$H,we have the same span and thumbpitches,and he went and had it polished so how do i ge it back to its box cndition? Needles to say he wan use my equipment aain.

S & A comes 400 grit smooth w/ a compound finish on it.......

I'd hit it w/ a burgandy scotch brite, then add the compound finish of your choice over that.......

Your pro-shop should be able to help out if needed

Your friend is an inconsiderate, self-centered a**hole. Read him the riot act. I wouldn't even put my fingers in a friend's bowling ball, no less modify the coverstock. What a cretin! (Even if he saved your life once or twice, literally!) How could any "friend' ever do that without first asking permission.

I think the S&A has the Brunswick "Rough Buff" finish, which is not yet available to the general public yet, that I know of. I SUSPECT it the equivalent of about 1200 grit matte finish, but I do not know for sure, yet.
