yet another ball POLISH question
« on: June 10, 2007, 12:42:26 AM »
Hey Group,

Basically this is a question for people with a spinner at their home but advice is welcome from those who haven't got one too.

Anyway, after you polish a ball how long does the polish last until you have to polish it again?

Thanks

well, what I have been doing is this, I currently throw an Epic-Odyssey, Epic-Battle, Epic-SAGA, Hammer-No Mercy and also a 15lb. plastic.

So I only polish the Battle, SAGA, and my 15lb. plastic but I have been wondering how often people polish their equipment.

I do however keep my 15lb. plastic polished up like a marble but the shine will only will last a few times out so thats why I thought I would ask.

I keep my Battle polished, and the SAGA lightly polished and I also try to keep the SAGA at OOB condition.

My Black Widow is at 2000 + polish and I find myself re-polishing it every 15 or so games just to keep it shiny and give it the extra push for the mediums i've been bowling on of late.

If you tend to play the part of the lane where there's more friction, you will need to polish more often. I just look at the track area, and as it starts to get dull then it's time.
It can vary between 15 and 30 games, based on normal play and conditions. If I were to bowl on extreme dry, then the polish burns off even more quickly than that.

Buddy of mine had a roto grip saturn.  That ball was hard to shine up and wouldn't stay that way long.

Depends on which ball you have most likely.  Some balls hold a shine longer than others.  May have something to do with the durometer hardness of the shells.

It depends on the amount of hand you have and the surface you're playing on.  If you've got 500+ revs, you'll chew up the surface on any ball a lot faster than the guy with 200 revs.

And as notclay said, it has to do with the lanes you're playing on.  Wood tends to track up balls a lot faster than synthetics, even used synthetics.
