4 new balls to drill. Need layout suggetions.
« on: January 10, 2005, 11:29:19 AM »
Ok, got 4 new balls, and I have some ideas for layouts but I wanted to get some opinions.

Warp Zone: 1-2" pin, 3.2 ounces top weight. I was thinking pin under ring, cg in palm to keep the flare down. (cg in palms kep the flare down right?) I want this to be a hard arc/control ball.

Nemesis: 2-3" pin, 3.1 ounces top weight. I was thinking pin under bridge, cg swung right a bit. I want this also to be a hard arc, but want it to wait till a little farther down the lane.

Intense Inferno: 2-3" pin, 3.0 ounces top weight. I was thinking pin over ring, cg stacked, or even swung out with a weight hole for skid/flip. SKID FLIP! I want this ball to be used what its ment for, to go long and turn hard.

Chrome/Yellow Power Groove: 2-3" pin, 3.3 ounces top weight. I was thinking another skid/flip drilling. Pin over ring maybe? I want to try a pin over bridge to see what it does, but Im not sure. My PAP is about 5 3/4 over, 3/4 up. (last time I checked) What type of reaction would a pin over bridge, cg either stacked, or swung a bit right to under the ring finger give me? Same thing, I want it to be skid/flip.

ON EDIT: I went and figured out my PAP, and it appears to be about 5 1/4 over, and about 1/4 up. Not sure what type of tracking this is? (high, low, medium???) But thats what I came up with. Actually it turned out the ball I was throwing has a weighthole RIGHT on my PAP, which is a total coincedence because the driller didnt know mine lol. So yea, knowing that, can you give me some drill suggestions? I added on to the end of each ball what I want it to do. Please guys, Im going tommorow to get these drilled, need help!

Well technically the pin over ring cg stacked etc. doesn't really matter, it's the pin/Cg to PAP differences.  So i think you should probably figure those out (what you want that is).  Bk, when did you last check your pap anyways?

The Cg isn't important on the Warp Zone, the PSA is.

Since your going to use the PG for dry, you might want to put the pin below your middle finger(if you don't track to high).

Hows BrunsJoe Sound?

He does track high.  I think he said about 5 3/4.

Where you swing the cg does not matter as much as the distance the pin is from the pap and the distance above the midline.

If he does track too high to put the there, then hes gonna have some fun with the power groove, those things HOOK! you can put the pin above your middle finger, but it will probably store a TOn of energy, and be really really strong on the backends.

Thats EXACTLY what I want! I just dont think I have THAT many revs to get a negative drilled ball to snap. I always thought negative gives you a more mellow reaction?

I think my track has lowered since I last checked it so maybe I will go bowling this week before I drill anything and check my PAP.

Well that means your given PAP is off.  Because 5 3/4 over is a high tracker.

just because the pin is negative means nothing, I know a few guys with 4 inch over paps that have to place the pin negative to get it to be 5 inch pin to pap without putting it way high.

Damn you, you're getting your stuff drilled before me.

Anways........

Warp:  Just do a label leverage drill.  Those are arcy and i think you said you wanted an arcing motion.  Maybe PSA halfway between thumb and VAL?

Nemesis:  I suppose a 4x4 for this ball.

Intense:  Try to make it like 5x5 or something.

Groove:  Do a 5x4 or something with this one.

And what kind of track is that? High, or low, or in between?
