Exotic layouts

Looking for some advice from you guys:

I have a customer that wants to try some exotic layouts.
His ball speed is around 16mph
Pap 5 right x 0 up/down
-he has a ton of side roll and struggles alot on sport due to not be able to control the backends.

The layouts I know personally and am familiar with are the following:
Rico
Boomer layout
Jason couch, tommy jones trick layout

Looking for any other layouts that will help get the ball down the lane and not super flip in the backend.

Still need rev rate,tilt,rotation,and where the speed is measured before your question can be answered.
Also,layout only influences about 15% of ball reaction.Surface is the biggest influence at 60%.
I encourage  you to go to Bowlingchat.net and start reading the information available over here on layouts,ball dynamics,etc.

Although I think both give more mid in order to tame the backends..

Pin close to the pap is one option. Surface prep is an easier option for any ball he already has to get a tammer backend.

The link you have listed is what is also called the Boomer layout now. There the same thing. Just like the team USA pattern/USA pattern is now called the rico pattern

You can also go with the pin closer to his pap, close to 1-1/2" with the cg towards grip center. If a weight hole is needed, draw a line from pin thru pap and place it past the val/pap about 2"! Before you drill the weight hole stack several pieces of tape and have him roll the ball to see if he flares over the tape! Make sure the last flare ring is at least 1-1/2" from the point you want to drill the hole! Just my $.02, Bruce
P.S. If you drill a ball with the 345 deg layout use a lower top weight ball so you don't have to drill a crater in it to make it legal! I really like this layout and it's very controllable as well!!

My PAP is 4 5/8 over and about 0.
I have a couple balls 2" to PAP and they give me a much better look on sport for my low track, particularly playing right on the fresh.  I also shy away from polish and have recently been tinkering with mass biases closer to my PAP

I would even look at a pin on PAP layout.  The real key however may be to work on his release.  It is the extreme axis rotation that is killing him.  Most of the really top high rev guys have learned how to cut they axis rotation significantly.

Thanks guys for all the help.

The guy incoming in Thursday and I'm going to do a pin axis drill, girard, boomer layout on a few test balls and hopefully this will help the customer succeed on the flatter type patterns

I have a layout I just tried close to layout 1 in the link on a Track 503c.  MB not on VAL however,  I like it.  Reacts very similar to the description

I also had a ton of side roll and went through all kinds of equipment and layouts
The best advice I had was to alter my release and I did that through coaching, practicing and reading as much as I could
It took some time to be proficient, (better now than before)

In order of importance or influence

cover
core
surface
drilling

selecting the proper coverstock and core will be the key to a successful piece
adjusting the surface and tweaking the drilling are just fine tuning the ball.

I doubt you will find a "trick layout" that will make him better on sport patterns
Technique is critical on these patterns, the only guy out there on tour with max side roll is PDW and he is an anomaly.

Interesting!

I'm actually just looking to bowl with this ball on house shots.

Funny one would think that I can't bowl on sport because of my very dramatic backend from Side roll.  But on many wet shots played inside I've often moved dramatically up in the field compared to my results in league shots.  Mostly driven by the drillings I've chosen that back off my backend.  Or bringing nearly dead balls or particles which I still use a lot!  They still work on the left!

But, in all reality none of this post is related to sport conditions.  I'm just curious how this drilling that I received in a purchased ball rolls on league for normal rev bowlers in a solid, and whether I should keep it or change it?

Have others tried it or seen it?  I appreciated all the helping comments.
