Finding the MB
« on: September 10, 2007, 06:59:37 AM »
I have the sanded Big Time by Ebonite.  I can not find anywhere on the ball an indication of a MB marking.  Is it because the MB is rated at .001, or is it just the type of ball that does not require this type of marking.
If I wanted a new PIN to PAP with the MB to PAP, what do I need to do?

I looked on the Ebonite site and I hated the indication that this was an "Antique Ball."  I still average over 200 with this ball in my house shot.  It is normally my first ball out of the bag, "To test the waters."

Thanks for the help.

I can't be for certain if this is how it works on all bowling equipment, but on my Roto Grip drilling sheet it says "If the MB is not marked on the ball, draw a line straight down from the Pin 6 3/4" away and mark that as your MB."

Like I said not sure if that goes for all bowling balls, but that's what it says on the drill sheet that came with my Roto Grip Sonic Boom.

I thought the Big Time had a marked MB, negligible as it was.  I've seen one and I thought it had a little BOMB mark.  Maybe it's in the thumb and your driller drilled it out.

In any case, as you said, the MB diff is 0.001 and the general consensus is that under 0.010 (?) is barely worth mentioning and things don't really start to get interesting until 0.015 or so.  As the others said, if you just have to use the MB to lay out the ball, draw 6 3/4" from the pin through the CG (weigh it after you plug it to confirm the CG location) and call that the MB.
