Full roller weight hole???

My dad is a right hand, old school full roller

I got him a Immortal pearl a while back and it been working great but last week the center got a new oil machine and you can really tell, lol

Even with the high diff (.78) and 7:30 pin layout, it not really turning well so I was thinking of having my local "pro" (lol) shop add a flare increasing hole...but thet had NO CLUE where to put the hole !!!

Problem #1,this ball is definately NOT an oiler.More for mediums.Sanding the surface would give a bigger benefit than any weight hole.The addition of a weight hole may make the ball start earlier,but sacrifice any or all backend,of which the ball probably doesn't have much to begin with.Best hope if you have to keep this ball on this condition,would be to tweak the surface.But to answer your question,a weight hole 3 3/8" off the pap would start the ball earlier.be sure not to go over 1 oz. negatve side weight.

Our house got a new oil machine last year and it took them, at the least, 3 weeks tinkering around with it until they found a good shot. You may want to give the house a little more time before you make any extreme changes to the ball.

If you do decide to add a balance hole, be sure it's in a position that won't hit the ball's track.  To be sure, mark the proposed location with a series of 2" long strips of white tape to make a 2" diameter circle with at least three layers of tape.  Now take it to the lanes and throw it.  If it flares into the tape (you'll hear and see a "bump" - the thicker the layers of tape the easier to see), choose another location.  --  JohnP

The problem with adding a weight hole is that the CG is basically in the center of grip for the vast majority of full-roller balls.  If not in the center it's darn close.  Thus there's minimal side, finger, thumb, top, or bottom weight.  Adding a weight hole anywhere will add weight on the opposite side of the ball and possibly make the ball non-compliant if the hole is large enough.

Better to use surface changes if he's looking to handle more oil.  Or, even better, get a stronger ball made to handle more oil.  Due to newballitis, his scores are sure to go up.

 Check the top weight, get it as close to 0 as you can, this will allow the ball to pickup the roll sooner. Out side of that you will need surface changes to get the ball to roll sooner.
 Since he is a full roller I don't think you will need to worry about roll out.

I already hit the surface with a green pad on my spinner, so we'll see how that works

but you guys still didnt answer the question, lol :

Where on the ball does the hole go ? He tracks like a normal roller (between the finger and thumb)

Which side of the ball does it go ?

Just looking at the drilling from what you've provided us, there probably isn't any side wieght. Placing the hole left of the pin will give you some side weight. This will make the ball hook more on the backend if it's gripping the lane. =:^D
