ihferno drilling
« on: February 03, 2005, 03:13:34 PM »
I recently picked up this ball on ebay.  When I received it, it had been drilled through the pin.  Why would it have been drilled this way and what problem do I face having it plugged and re-drilled?

wiu86 -- It was drilled that way because that's where the hole fell for the layout desired.  It is much better, from a cracking standpoint, to drill the pin completely out than either partially out or have a hole very close to it.  There will be no problem with plugging that hole and redrilling.  Only possible problem will be that the pin is no longer identifiable for layouts if plugged and drilled again by a future owner.  If you want to avoid that, have that hole plugged with a contrasting color.  --  JohnP
