Measuring Pitch Question
« on: November 17, 2007, 07:02:44 AM »
When the driller inserts the Pitch gauge into the thumb or finger holes to measure forward or reverse pitch.  When the arrow or pointer moves towards the right, this means that you have Reverse Pitch on that drilling. Correct?
So when they measure for right or left pitch.  It opposite of the direction that the pointer moves?
Thanks for the help in this matter.

I guess it depends which way you're looking at the ball

Nick, you know what I mean.  If you are measuring for forward or reverse pitch on a hole. Is it opposite of the direction that the pointer moves?

Well set it up with the fingers on the left, thumb on the right and insert the pitch gauge into the thumb. If it points to 1/4 on the left, then you have 1/4 reverse.

The hole is pitched in the opposite direction of the pointer.  Knowing that, you can look at how you have the gauge inserted in the hole and determine the pitch direction.  --  JohnP
