Given no specific conditions, what would everyone's preference? A low grit cover (500 to 1000) with a higher (over the fingers) pin,.....or....

A lower pin with a higher grit(4000 or polished) surface??

Interesting post Greg T, (good question)

Personally, grit/surface before pin height and distance from pap.

Reasoning: To help combat any hang or OB existing down lane or to the right which can help open up the shot more.

I am gald kdawg77 has joined the pin down club.  I am 100% behind pin down and polished.  Control leads to accuracy.
