What is the best way to drill a Granite Gargoyle
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:32:58 AM »
Bear with me because I do not know PAP, tilt, etc., but what would be the best way to drill a granite?  I am a low rev player with a high track.  I have trouble with reaction when there are heavy oil conditions.  I would like to use this ball on fresh oil.  I am not sure if kicking out the cg would help or adding a weight hole would help also.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

You need to find a good fitter/driller at a local pro shop.  He will check your PAP while he watches you throw some shots, then you can discuss your desired reaction with him and he can give you some intelligent suggestions.  Or you can have the ball punched up with the pin to the right and slightly above the fingers and take whatever reaction you get.  (I suggest the first course of action.)  --  JohnP

Yeah, get a driller to watch you throw some shots so that he or she can tailor the reaction to be what you want it to be.

From experience, the Granite is a great ball. I've owned two of them. If you use it in box finish, you'd better have a great deal of head oil. That ball is gritty, gritty, gritty. It feels like a cinder block.

If you polish the ball, it will go a bit longer and offer a fairly strong backend move. In either state, the ball hits and carries very well. It was one of my favorite Visionary balls.

Find a good driller, get measured up properly, and have some fun with it. Just a word to the wise, however; make sure you keep it clean. That ball collects dirt and lane junk like a vacuum.
