X-hole size..?

This question might have been asked before but I'm just wondering what the difference in reaction is with different x-hole sizes.. (diameter)

I know there's a difference depending on where u put it..

Generally, a smaller hole produces more snap, a larger hole more arc. Keeping in mind, location..location..etc. That will play a huge part in what the ball does.

Another factor is whether you touch the core with the hole or not (on purpose or accidently). Since core material is more dense than the filler around it, touching it will have additional effect on overall reaction.

Therefore, you can remove the same amont of material through a hole, but a narrow deep one is more prone to touch the core, while a larger shallow one will have milder effects.

1. If you drill small and deep you will affect the core and diff No's, normally making it higher,giving more flare and if you angle the hole (up,down or sideways) the symetry of the core can be altered.

2. If you drill a big shallow hole (taking out the same amount of material as 1.)the diff is not really affected but the RG is, this will make the ball more core heavy causing an earlier rolling ball.

Larger holes increase your scores more than smaller holes.  So sayeth the USBS.
