Xception 5.0 layout question
« on: November 14, 2005, 10:01:35 PM »
First things first, i have a high track. i'm maybe 1 1/2 inches away from finger and maybe 1/4" over the thumb with the first ring. and that's with a pin up drill. i threw a friend's xception 5.0 with the pin below the bridge, cg kicked out mb strong, and loved the reaction i got with it, however, the low pin caused me to track maybe 1/2 from the fingers and almost a full inch into the thumb.

question is, is there any way i can drill the 5.0 that's on the way that would duplicate this reaction, with the pin above the fingers? lmk.

You might be able to get away with the layout of your friend's ball plus an X-hole designed to raise the track's bowtie.  I am not familiar enough with either the Exception 5.0 or the proper location of the X-hole to say any more, but perhaps those who are will respond.  --  JohnP

Gentleman had a GP2 someone else drilled and it was clipping the fingers and thumb...I drilled a weight hole in the positive thumb quadrant, and it raised the bow tie up enough the ball no longer tracks over the finger or thumb. To get a similar reaction, I would put the pin above the finger line, and test the ball out. If you are clipping, try a weight hole in the positive thumb quadrantat a 45 degree angle from the center of your grip (that is how I was taught).

Example:

_______o-pin
____0____0____

_______x-center of grip

_______0_____xh____mb-mass bias

Keep asking aroung though....it has worked on everything I have tried it on for customers, but that does not mean there is a better way out there I am unaware of.
