I drilled my Terror identical to my Revenge and in my opinion the Terror gets down the lane an extra 3-5 feet and still has a very strong, angular motion on the back end. I like the backend motion even on extremely deep angles as the ball still has the continual motion through the pins. I think it complements the Revenge really well if you need more length and with strong backend.

The new DV8 Hell Raiser Terror is already my new favorite Hell Raiser. The first three games out of the box I posted games of 268 300 285 (853). This ball retains axis rotation a few feet longer than the original Hell Raiser. The original Hell Raiser comes off the spot a little slower and isn't as responsive to the dry. It is hands down the cleanest High Performance ball to date. This ball absolutely crushes the pins.

COMMENTS

Likes: DV8 stepped up and answered the one thing I wanted from them with this ball. To simply describe this ball I like to use the phrase " long and strong." It gets through the front part of the lane so easily. It will even do it on lighter oil if you keep a good fresh coat of polish on it. The Terror is so fast off the break point, that pins just do not stand a chance. It retains so much energy going through the pins that it just destroys everything in its path. This has become the number 1 ball out of my bag.

Dislikes: Sometimes you can get on a streak of stone 9 pins (right hander) or 8's for the lefties. I really have no complaints about this ball. I'll own a second one soon.

This ball was an extreme surprise for me!  We drilled this ball to give me something to throw on broken down medium to long sport patterns where the heads are burnt.  I wanted a ball to get through the heads and still be strong enough to hook in the back of the pattern.  I got exactly what I was looking for, with an added surprise! The midlane this ball still gets, even being drilled to go so long, is amazing!  I was expecting this ball to squirt to the 10 pin on a THS but it read the mid lane and made an extremely strong move through the pins!

Likes: I can trust that this ball will recover no matter how much oil is on the lane.

Dislikes: For me it is too strong for “Medium” conditions.  This ball needs oil.

Patterns:  USBC Red #3 (38), White #2 (41)

Layouts:
Terror #1  30x3.5x40 at 2000
Terror #2  45x4x45 in box finish

Terror #1 was designed to beat up on house shots - stand left and throw right without worrying about a jerky reaction.  This ball does just that, and after sanding it to 2000 abralon it is smooth with a nice controllable angle through the pins.  This is a ball I don't have to worry about jumping on me or squirting if I pull it, it is a benchmark ball for me.

Terror #2 is all about power and bullying an oil pattern.  This ball is stronger than my other terror because it is so strong at the breakpoint.  This Terror is ideal for  opening the lanes up after a couple of games and I never have to worry about it labouring on the way back to the pocket.  This ball is like a jacked up Wicked Siege to me and that is a major compliment.

The Terror is exactly what I expected.  A ball that clears the heads well with a strong backend that is ideal for playing inside and opening up the lanes in league.

Likes:  Lots of length and backend out of an asym, this ball is something that is unique to the Brunswick family.

Dislikes:  Terror would not be my first choice playing way right on something tough, but that is not what this ball is meant for.

LANE CONDITION

USBC White Pattern

Length: 41 Feet

Volume: Heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):  House.

Layout: 50x4.25x35, P1 Hole

PAP: 4-15/16 over, 1/8 up.

COMMENTS

Have had the Hellraiser Terror now for a few months and am completely satisfied with the results so far.  The ball design is an aggressive one with distinct downlane motion.  I've thrown this ball the majority of the time on the USBC White pattern at 41 feet.  With an aggressive layout for good length and a strong move on the backend of the lane, the Hellraiser Terror provides significant entry angles from even the deepest parts of the lane.  No striking power is sacrificed playing inside angles.

The ball would be best used for medium to heavier applications of oil/patterns.  As the lanes deteriorate and the heads burn up, the balls backend recovery allows me to shuffle my feet left and retain power in the pocket.

With any ball, I want a consistent, and predictable ball motion and the Terror provides that.  I have enjoyed throwing this ball and am confident when it's good off my hand, there is a good chance all 10 are going down in 60 feet.

I would recommend this ball for players looking for strong ball motion on the backend of the lane, or players with lower rev rates wanting more ball reaction.  For comparison, the overall hook is less than the Hellraiser Revenge, which I use strictly for heavy oil.  The Marauder is also a good step down from the Terror as far as overall reaction.

COMMENTS

Likes: The stronger reaction through the pins with a predictable motion

Dislikes: None

The Hell Raiser Terror is another great addition to the DV8 line. I really like the stronger backend reaction this ball has than the original Hell Raiser. The Terror has more continuation through the pins and gets down the lane farther before picking up than the Revenge. Its like a combination of the 2 balls with a cleaner motion through the front part of the lane. I have had success using the Terror on house shots and on kegel patterns. This ball can handle heavier oil conditions as well as medium oil conditions. I really like the strong arc type of roll without over reaction that this ball provides. If you are looking for a stronger pearlized ball that will allow you to open up the lane, then drill a Terror and you won't be disappointed. #TonightWeBowl

Surface Prep:

Comments:
As a stroker player with a lower rev rate (high 200's) I have always had a problem getting a ball to recover when I have to move left into more oily parts of the lane. This ball solved all those problems for me, with the cleanest motion through the first 2/3 part of the lane and the recovery from anywhere on the lane. To this point in my bowling career i have never had a ball that hits the way that the Hell Raiser Terror does.  The ball creates a vortex into the pin deck and, even with the high polish finish this ball rarely leaves 10 pins. If anything I leave more 9 pins with this ball than anything else. If i had to describe this ball to anyone i would make a new term characteristic, which is skid  snap.

Likes: Very smooth off the spot and able to cut through the oil pattern, even when the lanes are broken down, and it allows me to play in my comfort zone.

Dislikes: NONE

With a high first angle, being at 100 degrees, it allows me to get the ball down the lane very well, and still have a lot of response off of the dry boards and friction down lane, and it still has the power to get through the pins and allow to it to carry all 10 pins. Taking the surface to 2000 Abralon with Polish, it is very responsive with the cover and core combination, even if the lanes get torched, it allows me to stay right and play up the lane, as well as move in, get around the side of the ball, and watch it recover and go through the pins like it was on a fresh pair.

Hell Raiser Terror

With the Hell Raiser Terror I was looking for a strong ball and I could get to my break point without having it read the mids too early.  I drilled the Terror with the pin under the Bridge and the CG right of grip center with the Mass Bias in the strong position so I could get the ball through the heads easy and rely on it to be smooth off the break point.  At OOB finish I found it to be too smooth   off the break point for my liking.  It had too much over under look to it. So next time out with the ball I knocked the polish off the surface and kept the same grit and man this became a whole different ball for me.  The Terror  was real easy to get to my target and it was smooth but stronger   off the spot .  This surface gave the ball a continuous move through the pins.  the over under look was gone from the   ball.   I like this ball for when lanes start to transition but does not over  react because of the smooth  move it has down lane.

COMMENTS
I have to say that I haven't used DV8 before and I drilled the Brutal Nightmare pin above and slightly right of ring finger and love the reaction! It's very smooth, clean thru the heads with a strong move at the breakpoint! It does need some oil up front and I can move deeper with the same great carry as playing up the board! The Hell Raiser Terror takes control to a new level! I decided on placing the pin closer to my pap to create a smoother more controllable reaction than the BN! I got what I was looking for! The Terror is smoother than the Brutal with a more controlled move at the breakpoint! The carry is amazing and I haven't bowled much this summer, cause I work at a bowling center and bowled four nights a week last fall/winter league and needed a break. I was asked to bowl last Thursday night for a guy who wanted to go fishing! I used a different ball the first game/Strike King and it was more over/under and left we with several splits with one being a big 4 first ball in the tenth for a 190 game. I decided I wanted a smoother reaction and got out the Terror for the 2nd game. I left a 10 pin and knew I over threw the ball and decided to just calm down and left it roll! I threw the next 16 strikes before I left a 7 pin and shoot 290 258 for a 738 series! I practice yesterday and the pattern was a little different, but the results weren't! The Terror is my new favorite ball of all time!!! I'm not a staffer and can use anything I want, but I choose to use Brunswick and DV8 cause it gives me the best reaction for my game, Bruce

Likes:Smooth and controllable with amazing power at the pins!!!

Dislikes:None yet only that I didn't drill one last season!!!

Likes:this is drilled similar to my dude. Pin in ring with cg negative. This is not as advertised. This has an extremely smooth reaction. It is a strong ball and needs at least medium oil to excel. I havve this between my nightmare and dude. I love the smooth  roll and hard hit. I do very well with this ball at oob polish.  I believe I added extra polish for added length snd is still very strong. I suggest this ball if you do not like angular and u wwnt controllable and smooth. I am one of those people
