DV8 describes the Outcast as a ball that â€œFinished with a Royal Shine Polish, the Outcast skids very easily through the front part of the lane and provides a controllable hook motion on the backend of the lane all the way through the pins on light to medium oil lane conditions.â€
I drilled my Outcast with a layout of 100x4 1/4x55 which puts the pin right in my ring finger, with no weight hole. I use this layout when I want a ball to control the backend and smooth off over/under. This is my go to layout on house shots.
The Outcast can handle far more oil than DV8 lets on. It is the perfect house shot ball in my opinion. It is able to handle the volume in the middle, while not over reacting when it gets to the dry backend or outside. Because of the layout I used, it struggles to open the lane up, however, that was not my intent with the Outcast.
On a medium oil house shot I was able to easily play the track area with the Outcast. It was strong enough to handle the volume, but smooth enough to give me the miss room needed on wet/dry house shots. The Outcast provides a heavy roll that I usually donâ€™t see out of low end balls.
The thing I like most about the Outcast is how controllable it is. Low end balls are typically very quick off friction and very sensitive to oil, but the Outcast doesnâ€™t seem to be either of those. It is very smooth off the backend, but can also handle a decent amount of oil. The Outcast is a great ball for anyone looking to buy their first bowling ball, or someone looking for a controllable ball for when a pattern becomes sketchy.

I have this ball drilled with a the pin 1.5 inches above the ring finger and CG about 1.5 inches below the ring finger.

I'm reviewing my use of this ball on the Kegel Stone Street oil pattern.

The Outcast is a fantastic choice when the lane conditions start to break down. I was able to move back right (I'm a right-handed bowler) and get closer to the track where pin carry is optimal. The Outcast is not overly agressive on the back ends of the lane, but retains plenty of hitting power to make pins really fly. I did not encounter an issue getting the ball through the front of the lane, and I used this for games 4, 5, and 6 on the pattern. Game 5 was a 299.

I would recommend The Outcast to anybody looking for an entry level bowling ball. For the experienced bowler, it's a fantastic dry lane ball. For someone just beginning, it looks great and will give good performance.

Outcast-Black Citron

This is Doug Cutler and I am a DV8 Regional Staffer

The drilling I did for the Outcast is the Pin above my Ring Finger and the CG kicked out a little. The pin is 2-3" pin. The surface is the same as out of the box.

The oil pattern I used for the Ball review is on the PBA Cheetah.

The outcast is such a great ball and I love when I can stay way left and play the ditch and play up the boards and this ball does this for me. Even though this is a ball that is lower end ball, this ball hits so hard and keeps the pins low. If you have a young kid that wants to get ball that is a step up from a plastic ball this is the ball you need and you can choose from 3 different colors. Also you get a bag to come with the ball and what other ball gives you that. I have also used this on any short pattern, or on a Typical House Shot. This ball is really smooth through the heads and still keeps a good amount of back end reaction on the back. On the Cheetah pattern this year when we bowled in league for 2 the weeks I did not shoot under 750.

This is Hansel Javier, DV8 Regional Staffer. I am left handed, revs are about 400 and avg speed is between 17-18 mph's

The Outcast Black Citron its finished at 500 Siaair Micro Pad / Royal Compound / Royal Shine, It's in the lowest price point that DV8 makes for a reactive ball but I assure you that just because of the price point that the ball is in, does not take away from the performance of the ball.

If you are a beginner this balls offers great color combos and great performance, so why be normal, is better to be an OUTCAST

For the experienced bowler. This ball is super clean through the front part of the lane and the response in the back is amazing for me a higher speed player the ball recovers with no problem in the back part of the lane, even if I move my feet right "Yes even as a Lefty I move" and still get the ball to recover, I am extremely impressed with the balls performance.

COMMENTS

The Outcast falls into the entry-level price point, but it is far from entry-level in performance. This is a great ball for bowlers of all levels.

For beginners, it has a great color scheme and will look great while you're enjoying this great sport. It will be easy for you to learn and harness you skills.

For league bowlers, this is the ideal ball for game 3 or whenever the lanes tend to hook too much. The Outcast gives good length and a controllable hook on the backend.

For tournament bowlers, this ball would be great for any lesser-volume sport shot or any later blocks in a tournament. It maintains the desirable control across a variety of patterns.

Mine was drilled 65 x 4 3/4" x 35 and gives a similar ball motion to my Dude, just more geared towards lighter oil. If you love the Dude (like me) and want something to step down to, this is the ticket.
