Need drilling suggestion for the Too Reckless

I'm trying to drill the Too Reckless to handle a specific condition, flying backends, dry outside, light oil to start with but can move deep.

I drilled the Misfit with the pin above my middle finger cg kicked right similar to the big crank.  My PAP is 4 3/8 and 5/8 up.  This ball drilled like this was way too much ball.  Its a great second ball in the other house I bowl at with longer oil, but at the center I'm needing help in, the oil is much shorter and it is a second shift.

I think the flip drilling will work well but where would/could I put the CG/MB?  Would it help to put the balance hole above the PAP to tame the ball?

The Misfit is a lot stronger ball then I ever expected and reacts stronger to friction then my Too Reckless.

I still think for the condition your talking about, both the Misfit and Too Reckless will be stronger then you would probably need.

I would try and go with a pin up drilling and the pin probably in the ball park of 5.5 to 6" from your pap. From there it will be a matter of adjusting the surface of the ball depending on its reaction to your condition. The ball doesn't have a mb, and I would keep the cg near the center grip line and not worry about a weight hole.

Thanks for the Reply Kidlost.  How have you been?  I haven't seen you since we bowled in that doubles tournament a couple of years ago.

I read where CharlesT said that the Karma solid might be a better ball for this condition.  So I ordered one and might see if it makes sense to drill the Karma solid for this condition and save the Too Reckless and Hell Raiser Revenge.

Barry,

I have a Too Reckless but have not drilled it yet. From all reports and reviews, it is far too strong (read: too much backend) to control anything with "flying backends".

I replied about the Karma, potentially filling that role, with a control type of drilling.

The Too Reckless is, as near as I can tell, a Reckless, with a different surface. You'd need to dull the surface and then it might be too early for this apparently lighter oil pattern.

Doing good. Enjoying a summer of golf and stocking up on equipment for the fall. The Karma solid or pearl would be a much better choice for the listed conditions.

If you were trying to stay with one brand I would say DV8 could use a ball down from the misfit to complete the line. The misfit is a very strong ball for the price point. I drilled mine to be a step down from from too reckless and it reads the lanes sooner and keeps driving more then my too reckless. Even with taking the shine off the misfit to try and tame the backends it is still too strong.

I ordered a Karma solid, now I have to figure out to drill it.
