Orig Nightmare vs Ruckus
« on: January 25, 2014, 08:56:12 AM »
I love my Nightmare, but it has A LOT of milage on it right now. I could have my local proshop order me a new one, but I'm wondering if there is something in the new DV8 line up that would give me a similar look on the lanes. I would consider my self a tweener and bowl on a THS 99% of the time. The lane beds are AMF synthetics so that gives you a little bit of background on what I typically bowl on.

I saw the Ruckus up on the wall the other day and the color scheme looked pretty sweet, and the core looked somewhat similar maybe a little bit fatter. The orig Nightmare was my benchmark ball (first one out of the bag) because it gave me a good read of the lanes. I would want this new ball to fill the same role. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Never used the ruckus personally. But the nightmare is a damm good first ball out of the bag. Great read and big reaction on oil. If it was me I would probably get another nightmare ..

Nightmare was pretty early for me and soft in the backend.
The Ruckus is a medium length ball with a quick response to friction.

The Endless Nightmare uses the same core and is a little stronger, while the Ruckus Feud is even more ball.

I shot some vid of the Nightmare and Endless drilled identically a few months back.  I had maybe 40 games on the original Nightmare by that point.

Great video. Just got my fiance a 14# diva and am getting it drilled tonight. She just stepped up to 14# so I will probably do a medium pin up drill in case her release or hand changes slightly as she gets used to the weights

Thanks Brandon! Your vid was REALLY helpful. It was the first vid that I've seen that someone threw the Nightmare and compared it to several different balls (Nightmare, Endless Nightmare, Brutal Nightmare, Aura, Mutiny, and the Diva).

I never even considered the Endless Nightmare as an option but after watching your vid I called the ProShop and had my buddy order one for me. It's supposed to be here Monday so long as we don't get this stupid blizzard that they are forecasting for our area.

And thanks to Tattoo too. I never considered the Diva because of the color and the way it was marketed (kind of a girls ball), but that thing does clear the heads and makes a nice move down lane.

Thanks again,
-Jeff

Ruckus is no comparison to the original nightmare, brutal or endless...ruckus has a much higher rg core and the cover is skid flippy, have seen them in action with identical drills, with same surfaces the nightmares read earlier, have more midlane and are much smoother

have no idea how the ruckus fued will match up, but the original ruckus is nothing like the original nightmare

I've found the ruckus to be less angular than you'd think...its clean, but makes more of a strong arch move off the spot

Just punched up an Endless Nightmare per Brandon's suggestion, and I gotta tell you this ball is amazing. I was able to start in on 4th arrow and send it as far right as I wanted and watched the ball come back and destroy the pins

I ended up going 269, 237, 205 for a 711 series. There were a couple of balls that I just came out of poorly and I just started walking away from the foul line because I didn't want to see what I left, and turned around and saw no pins on the deck. The only reason I shot 205 the last game was because the ball started burning up and I didn't make a ball change. That's not the ball, that's on me...

I gotta tell you with this ball I can get in deep and just wheel it and the carry percentage was amazing. Thanks for the suggestion Brandon!
