Decisions, decisions
« on: November 11, 2005, 05:19:50 AM »
I need a new ball, or I should say I want one.  I was all set on my choices and now this CFM comes out and there is a rave review on it, I can't take it.  I need a ball to get down the lane farther than my triple XTREME from storm that is drilled lable and have more overall hook than my Quantum fire, which is drilled at 5 o'clock and I don't know much else, but its supposed to be the "least hooking" drill I could get on it.  That ball really fills a med-light range, and the Xtreme would be perfect if I shined it, but I like it as my heavier ball.  I don't carry an extreme oil ball b/c the last one I had (Anomaly) was never used. The Xtreme gives me a look that is similar to what I got from the Element, but a little more angular ( I had the element drilled for roll) and it picks up a few feet earlier. So I want a ball to fill that void, something that gets down the lane well and then has enough to kick around on the medium patterns.  I was looking for something that is a pearl to do this, I don't want the over/under that the vendetta pearl gave me.  Has anybody shine up one of these CFM babies and thrown on a medium shot? I like to play straiter up the boards, but most would call me a cranker, I say its more of a tweener though, I can't give you and exact estimate on revs, but there are plenty to be had and I throw around 15-16mph most nights.  Could I possibly fill the hole with this ball or would I be better off grabbing one of my original thoughts (fired up, or original x-factor)?  Don't yell at me b/c I'm using other stuff, I like to dabble, I've had all the Vendettas except the max and the sniper, and the Element, Anomaly.  DT has treated me well, but I switched my span and was actually given both of the balls I am dealing with now, and they are the ones I use the most, I have others, but this is my big gap that I need to fill. So will the CFM work in the hole I talked about or am i barking up a way too aggressive tree?

The review I posted earlier was actually shot on a med to med - heavy shot. THS but with more oil in the middle than most house shots I have bowled in. The box surface is probablly going to be a bit too much for most house shots, I have found that most of the soaker cover variations will take surface prep very easy and respond well as long as the cover matches your game and the shot. I recommend the CM for anyone who is not set with box conditions. I do not own a ball I have not adjusted the cover on. I will probably hit mine tonight with 1200 or higher finish to be able to use it longer than 2 games. The soaker does real well with higher abralon finishes opposed to polishes. Gives you good length with a very controllable break point. Try one, you won't regret it............... sb
