Crossfire Vs. Black Ice
« on: June 14, 2005, 04:52:27 PM »
So.. i drilled both of these balls today and bowled on a THS and a 45 foot pattern... on the house shot there was not much difference between the two balls except for the nice little pop in the back the crossfire gives.

The Black Ice: is very smooth just as it says it was going to be on the website. i have the pin (3 inch) below the bridge with the cg kicked about 1.5 inches with a weight hole on the midline about 4 inches from the center of grip. i drilled it to be smooth and to have control and it does just that. it is much more predictable than the original ice. on the house shot i was playing right around the track area and the ball was being very smooth into the pocket. on the sport pattern i could stand 20 and throw up 15 with it and it would hold and still retain a lot of hitting power... not the ball to use for such a long condition.

The Crossfire: i wasnt too sure about this ball at first and now its earned its spot in the lineup. i have the pin also under my bridge with the cg stacked... its also about a 3 inch pin. this ball was mad clean through the heads on both the sport pattern and house shot. then at about 45 feet a nice little pop in the back... very sweet. i was plaing the track on the house shot but could get it out further than the black ice and still have it come back.. i could also play deeper with it and still have recovery. on the sport pattern i played around 15 standing 25.... as long as i hit it, it was money let it out and it was gone for good because they were juicy.

all in all both are great balls and great imporvements on the orginials i believe. they compliment each other well.
