I just received a NIB 16lb Ebonite Gemstone from the essay contest pchee2 held earlier. I didn't win the contest, but came as a runner-up, and thanks to Pooter Boof (the Curse Dusty) who donated this ball, I am now the proud owner of a 16 lb Ebonite Gemstone. I read on bowlingballreviews.com that this is a two piece plastic, as opposed to the conventional 3-piece. Is it made to also be a burnt lane striking ball, similar to a Lane 1 XXXL, or is it just a good lookin' spare ball? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently throwing 14 lb equipment, and my rev rate has steadily climbed to where it is now, which is pretty out of control. I find myself playing deeper and deeper as the months progress. Would moving up to 16 lbs lower my rev rate?

I had this as a spare ball. BIG mistake. Drilled label.
Beautiful ball, one of the most beautiful ever made.
Could hardly make a 10 pin or a 7 pin without a flat release or a lot of speed.

It is a very dynamic core. Be prepared for that.
I never used it as a strike ball, so I can't say how it hits, but it DOES hook on dry lanes. If you don't want it to hook, drill it pin on axis (PAP).
