Its just called the Xcel and I don't use one but my proshop guy who is ebonite staffer has alrady drilled one pearl and two of the particles.  He said "it is the best high end ball ebonite has ever made".  All the staffers in the southern region are talking about theirs and how good they are.  Doug Becker who bowled very well this past weekend was using his and he was high qualifier on sunday.

I have been eyeing the Killer Instinct balls for some time now.  I decided to get myself some new gear for the hollidays.  At the last minute, I dedided to go with the Xcel Pearl.  The ball hasn't been out that long and everything I have read about it is GOOD.  I haven't heard a complaint from anyone about this ball.  I just ordered yesterday, so it won't be coming in for a few days.  When it does though, I'll be sure to post my info right here.  Glad I found this forum this morning.

I have both xcels the pearl is great for medium to dryer lanes and the xcel particle was too much ball out of the box for me. I polished it up with ebonite factory finish and this baby came too life now, it clears the heads well and i have never seen a particle ball backend like this ball ever.

The particle backends as well as my Track Rule on the same conditions more even than the Rule and not as uncontrolable as the Rule. It moves the entire lane and never rolls out in the polished state. In box condition it was turning left at about 30 feet so this ball is The Real Deal haha I also have that ball from hammer and it is another great release i still have the Real Deal in box it does not burn up as bad as the Xcel particle does out of the box.

I told Dave Wodka this ball is a winner and i have been selling them for my porshop buy people just watching me use this ball. I am basically a forward roller about 10 degrees of tilt but i can send this ball out to the dry and know it will come back. If you cant hook an Xcel particle or a Track Rule you have big bowling issues and should stick too plastic only then.

Btw i also used an abralon 2000 pad by hand on the pearl and it tamed down the snappiness of the ball, it now is much more even but much different roll the xcel polished. A great 1-2 punch for Mr. Ron Hickland great job getting this right and keep up the great work.

Thanks for the Info. I'll probably pick up the Xcel Particle soon.

I too was wondering this. I just received a reply to an e-mail that I sent to my friend who is a professional bowler, asking her what Ebonite ball I should get. She highly recommended the Xcel Particle. She has heard many great things about it, and she personally loves the way that it rolls. "Nice reaction, clears the pins out very well" she said.

I'm going to be buying one after Christmas. :-)

I have two Pearl Xcel and one Particle. I love them all. These balls are by far the best high performance balls Ebonite has made for a while. The particle gives me easier length and more recovery than any other particle since the Adrenaline but it is still very usable on heavy oil. The pearl reminds me of the reaction I used to get from Storm (Trauma and Trauma ER) a lot of length with major recovery.

drilled a Xcel particle courtesy of Dave Wodka, pin under finger with a stacked cg and bomb no weight hole. i shined it up because i knew upfront this ball moves. Overall this ball rolls great in general. revs up nice and hooks alot. the ball retained its power after its move to the pocket and carried well. felt like i had to finesse it a little because everytime i really hit it or softened up on the shot it was thru the nose. was playing the typical house shot where the 10 board gets burnt up quick. cant wait to try this in laughlin for the next regional event. thanks to Dave and Ebonite. I would recommend this ball to any bowler who needs that little extra "oomph" to get it to the pocket.

About a year and a half ago, I moved to MS from NY.  When I got here, my boss invited me to be on her team of the company's bowling league.  I liked bowling but knew very little of the sport.  I had gone to the alleys from time to time to play for fun, but nothing more.  I decided signing up would be good for me as I would be getting involved with a recreation in my new area of residency and meeting people from my new work place.  I quickly found myself getting wound up in the bowling scene.  I realized there was much more to bowling than hitting the middle pin (that's what I thought made a strike).  Co workers offered the advice of getting my own gear.  "This will make you more consistent and give you better control of the ball.", they said.  I took their advice and bought some gear.  When I looked at the information about the different balls, I had no clue what any of it meant so I did what any novice would do; I bought a ball that looked good and was light weight so I could hurl it down the lane!  I bought the Ebonite Illusion.  I have played with the Illusion for three seasons now.  During the first season, my score contiuously improved.  The last two seasons, however, my average maintained around 150.  My 13lb. Illusion is drilled for a conventional straight ball.  It still had a little hook to it, so I shifted my body to the right and came to the pocket at an angle.  Yes, I was really interested in learning more about bowling, the scientific principles of the sport, and improving my game now.  I realized what a mistake I had made by purchasing a "good looking" ball and how I worsened the scenerio by getting it drilled for throwing straight balls. I quickly started looking for a new ball.  I had my eyes on the Killer Instinct for some time, but decided on the X-Cel Pearl in the end.  I was a little nervous about throwing my new ball for the first time yesterday.  It is a heavier ball and is drilled for fingertip, which I had never thrown before.  To my dismay, I took to it like a duck to water.  I only bowled two games yesterday with it as I was on a time constraint, but those two games were great.  I bowled just below my average both games!  Not bad considering I didn't have much clue what I was doing with that fingertip.  This ball has an awesome hook on the backend!  I started on the center dot, aimed for the arrow just right of the middle one, and threw at about my normal speed.  I let go a bit early as I was getting use to the tips.  Even still, I watched as the ball slid right a bit all the while rotating left.  Then...SNAP....she shot off to the left, hit the head pin and cleared everything on the left side.  I had gotten use to the hook potential by the end of the first game.  I was just trying to accustom myself to the fingertip.  When I practice next, I'll concentrate on taking control of the ball under different situations.  For now, I have to say I LOVE my X-Cel Pearl.  I get the feeling my average is going to improve many points with this new weapon.  I highly recommend the ball.  A+  Great Work!!  Thank you Ebonite for my X-Cel Pearl!

use the Xcel pearl tonight in league 300 - 279 (front 8) - 214 = 793

just a bunch of 4 pins and a pocket 7-10 in the 3rd game.

was playing 17 to 10 pretty much all night. ball rolls great, sets up nice and retains energy to crush the pins. i drilled mine with the pin under and just to the right of the ring finger. with the cg kicked out and a weight hole 5 inches over on the midline.

I have the Xcel pearl, just drilled it up, not exactly what I expected.  Read the reviews in bowling Journal, it said it was a weak ball, and recommended to drill it strong.  So I put the pin above and to the right of the ring and kicked out the cg about 2".

I think this drilling was too strong, the ball hooks just as much as my killer Instinct pearl (which I love, pin above ring cg in the palm) but is less angular more even on the back end (more due to the drilling).  Like I said not what I expected.  I was standing 37, looking 17, out to 8.

I love ebonite, but this is the first high end ball that I'm some what disappointed in. I should have drilled it up weaker, but I'm gonna try some polish to get it to go longer, hopefully giving me the look I want for a particular lane.

What I compare the Xcel too, Killer Instinct pearl, V2 sanded (danny wiseman drill), Prime time (25 degree drill), V2 Dry (pin below ring, cg in palm, 1"pin), 4 Shooters (this is a great ball, thats why I got 4 of them), Big Bully (pin below ring cg out 1"), Monster Slayer (leverage), Urethane Scout.

Not as much weak as gradual. This ball is real good for tougher shots and sport patterns. It reminds me of a throttle Up by Columbia. The hook isn't just in one part of the lane it is continious. We have seen better luck with bowlers who are tightening up there line compared to other pearls in this category.
