Lanebreaker vs. Emerald Vibe?
« on: October 14, 2009, 06:29:48 PM »
i currently use an emerald vibe for medium conditions, but has recently been chewed up by the ball returns.. sad sad day.. but that just means its new ball time! i've had my eye on a lanebreaker since it released and was wondering how it would compare to my emerald vibe?

The Lanebreaker would be a great ball for medium conditions! I'll warn you though, it's MUCH stronger than some people might have you believe.  I bought it for a medium to lighter house shot and what I got was an angular beast.  On heavier/longer oil it will slide a bit but the backend and recovery is ridiculous.  I'd recommend this ball for medium - medium/heavy conditions just like Ebonite's website says.

Be leary of short patterns and burnt heads though.  This ball will jump off the spot as soon as it reads dry.  You'll need to keep the surface clean and polished.

I've had it for about 8 weeks now and I love it!  Sometimes it's tough to put away because it's just so much fun to throw.  I think where you used to be able to stick with the emerald vibe for a while, this ball will likely be too strong.  Just keep that in mind!

Hope this helps!

if you lookin at the ebo line a smash, or lanebreaker will be good.. the smash will clear the haeds well and carry a lot... ive have throw 3 with different drills its very versatile..

Um, just a bit curious.  If you're Emerald Vibe got chewed up and you are looking to replace it, why not just get another Emerald Vibe?

Anyways to answer your question the Lanebreaker is a completely different reaction, stronger core, lower rg, higher diff, stronger cover.  Although the lanebreaker is a great ball, if you are looking to get it in place of your Emerald Vibe its not even close.

Post a profile of your style and some of your stats, and it might be easier to get some opinions on your questions. Lanebreaker is a earlier and stronger ball than the Emerald Vibe. It is also asymetric verus symetric. If you like the EV so much get another. Or get a Onyx Vibe and have at it. A comparsion:

i was thinking about getting another EV but wanted to try something different. a friend of mine is giving me his old one with only 25 games that he doesnt use anymore so i got that. thinking about the Lanebreaker now that i hear more about it. thanks everyone!

as for my bowling profile:
15-16mph on qubica
300rpm
pap is 5 3/16 over, 5/16 up
i like to play a slight swing shot outside, but am starting to get comfortable playing deeper inside.
