Mission 2.0 Cover Changes
« on: December 03, 2010, 03:49:18 PM »
Hey all, I just picked up the 2.0, and was wondering if anyone out there has experimented with any cover changes on this ball.  Mine is drilled pin under the ring with the mb about an inch right of the thumb (no weight hole).  My favorite cover change is 500 abralon with polish over it.  Polish gives length through heads, and the 500 gives a strong arc.  Thats usually on pin over bridge drills though.  I play straighter up the outside with good speed and rev rate.  I have a pin over bridge REvolver with the cover at 500 with polish which is great when the lanes break down, but it skids a little to much if there is fresh oil in the heads.  I drilled with mission 2.0 pin down to be a bit stronger than the revolver, but for playing up the outside, even with my speed being around 20mph, it just snaps as soon as it gets to the midlane, going through the nose or brooklyn.  Do you think if I just match the cover change on the revolver that it will give me a similar reaction, just stronger on the backend not being to skid/flippy with the stronger core and layout?

I brought my Mission 2.0 from 2000 grit to 1000 grit.At 2000 the ball was to snappy on freshbackends and squirty on oil carrydown. On 1000 the ball has a hard move to the hole with no drop in continueation. For me it was the right move. Also on the 1000 surface I used a light coat of beans polish. Hope I answer your question.   MedicHal

I agree,  We take balls down to 1000 and then add a little polish all the time...
Works very well as a game 1 type of ball, but can still get deeper into the night with it...

I took a 4000 Abralon pad to mine over box finish, and love the reaction that I get.  Ball gets more length and a strong backend.  Can play straighter on the fresh, then move inside as they break down.
