Omega LM drill sheet help.
« on: December 20, 2012, 12:07:42 PM »
Hello,

I was looking for an Omega or Omega LM drill sheet. I have a new Omega LM that I want to drill, but my pro shop guy was not around when the Omegas came out and the ball did not come with drilling instructions.

I have already contacted Ebonite last week and never received a response back, so I don't know if they don't have one or if they ignored me. Either way, can anyone provide a copy of one that you can email to me? I am a lefty as I believe the drills were specific to what hand you were using for the layout on the drillers clock.

Thanks

You should drill this ball like you would any Asymmetric ball.
When the ball was released you drilled it based on the compass around the pin. At that time much wasnt known about drilling that kind of core.

Wolf,

What does one consider the mass bias then? The omega CG symbol is out about 3 inches....or am I missing the mass bias spot on the ball?

Rex,

I appreciate the help!

There should be a small riser pin.Might even be ball colored.
If there is not a pin.If you have any local proshop with a determintaor take it to them and they can locate the mass bias of the ball

I don't know for sure because the Omega LM core was only in the LM and Omega/R. The Lion had something added in the core which was touted as denser than Ceramic...a knock to the popularity of the Columbia and Track ceramicore balls at the time....

The core was different... I dug around my local shop and found RG numbers for the LM core and the Lion core.

FWIW I scanned the layout sheet for the Lion while I was there.

It should be fairly similar.  The main difference being the differential of the Lion was 0.070 and the LM had a slightly lower RG and a diff. of 0.059.
