On TRUE heavy oil, nothing hook earlier than the Infinite One.  I have mine out the box at 500 grit and I rarely get to use it.  I mostly throw it up the channel in match play to burn up the outside.  For me, the NVD was about 4 boards weaker than the Infinite One, but probably out hooks it at the same surface prep.

after looking at some new stuff, i know its not ebonite but its hammer. could i take an onyx vibe and dull it up to make it a heavy oil ball? ive heard stories about the blue vibe where people dulled them up and it work great on heavy oil. they said it was their best oil balls. would the onyx vibe dulled work better than an NVD on oil you think? i have a chance to get either of them and just curious which would be a better choice? trying to go with ebonite and hammer because i love their reactions. any other company, eh.. not so much for me.

Pin Slasher works very well on Shark for me. Pin is about 5" from axis and over ring, 1000 Abralon w/ polish. I was able to use it for all 4 games of PBA league a few nights ago. NVD would work, too.

Not sure if a Vibe would be a good choice on heavy oil. Maybe the new Widow?

the new Evolve is great. just wait for that if you havent drilled anything yet.
