Striking Motions for $99 Drilled?
« on: January 19, 2009, 02:01:13 AM »
Im not one to stir things up, but holy crap

http://www.bowlersparadise.com/mailing/1-09/ebonite_striking_motion.shtml

What happened to ebonite international protecting the brick and mortar pro shops?  Did i miss something here?

On Edit: I realize this does not include shipping, but that still leaves you well below what shops can most likely buy the ball for

sale for the striking motion have not been that good.. I think the price point for the ball was too high personally for a ball that's average..

I find it funny how they state they will sell to pro shops but there is a limit of 4..

This tells me the Striking Motion was HUGE bust!!

Shipping is 19.95 and so basically you are getting the ball shipped and drilled for $120.00.  Distributors are selling the ball for around $130.00.  For another $15 added to the shipping they will also ship you a free rubber ball.
--------------------

Seems like you're more likely purchasing a rubber ball for $145 and getting a Striking Motion for free.

Somehow when I think of bowlersparadise,  I also think of Steve Cook, the dist!!!!!!

Sounds to me like someone is grasping at straws here.

If pro shops were smart, they would find out for themselves who the dist. are that front certain online dealers.  You know the ones that cut your heart out with their below cost prices.  And stop dealing with those Dist.

Now as for Ebonite's pricing.  You really can not blame Ebonite if a certain dist.  fronts a online dealer.  He basically is selling the balls to himself.
So if the floor price is $130 on the motion,  i'm sure the dist. has an invoice showing he charge the online dealer>>> the front $130.

Then the online dealer,>>> the dist,  sells the ball for $99.  Ebonite's pricing does not have anything to do with what a pro shop or online dealer can sell a ball for.  Just what a dist. sells the ball for to it's customer's.

So when a dist. fronts a online dealer, he is selling a ball to himself.  Therefore even if he sells the ball for $10 or $20 below Ebonite's floor plan, he is still making money.

In this case,  BP's dist,   guess who, maybe a tall guy that used a lot of plastic in his days,  may sell them the ball at $130 to meet the floor price of Ebonite,  But since he maybe is the online dealer.  He can easily sell this ball for less and still make money or break even.  While screwing every pro shop that deals with him.

West coast pro shops, wake up,  there are dist. out there that are honest and will not cut your hearts out.

And I don't care what someone named ric or larry etc have to say.

They mean nothing to me, nothing at "tall"

They don't run my shop, or pay my bills.

They mean nothing to me.

do you include the drilling in these prices as bp has??!!
how cheap do they have to be getting them to not be losing their backside with that price including drilling!

I personally talked with John Gaines yesterday by email and here is what he had to say about it:

Ebonite does not sell direct to any on line retailers. Nor is there any special pricing for any of the internet sites. Ebonite has a Minimum Wholesale Pricing policy that is strictly monitored. bowlers paradise is buying Striking Motions at the same price you are. $132.88. If he chooses to lose $40/ball that is his prerogative. The company you may want to direct your questions to are his distributor. bowlers paradise is doing this to all manufacturers, not just Ebonite.

Clarke, Ebonite is having 2 product showcases. One in Atlanta on the 21st and one in Orlando on the 22nd. They both start at 10AM. This is one of the topics that Bob Reid will be discussing. This is the place to VOICE YOUR OPINION! You need to be there and say something. We have already had several of these shows. It's the same topics ahead of time and none of the shops ever speak up. Show up and say something. Otherwise not much is going to change.

This pretty much proves what I have been saying.  "If" BP is a front for a certain dist.  they they are not losing money.  The dist. is selling "on paper"  balls to himself>>>>  The online dealer.  Therefore since he paid Dist.
the price, he is not losing money if he sells these balls thru his fronts.

PRO SHOPS WHO DEAL WITH A CERTAIN WEST COAST DIST. OR A TEXAS BASED DIST. NEED
TO WAKE UP.  Stop buying from these dist.

Lets do the math.

According to riccy,  online sales are about 30%. which means that pro shops sales are about 70% of all balls sold.

Now there are 17 dist.  each "may" have a customer base of about 300-500 pro shops.  If a dist. sells to online dealers, they made be about 30-40% of that dist. business. With pro shops making up 60-70% of his business.

Now if pro shops pulled their heads out of their butts and wake up and stop dealing with these dist.  These dist. will lose about 60-70% of their business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They can not afford to lose that much business.
PRO SHOPS
Send these west coast and Texas based dist. a message.  Stop buying from them.

It's easy to find out who they are.  Just look at the box the ball comes in.  You will see that bowling.com is usually shipped from the same address as a major dist.  The same thing with BP.com.  Also  possibly shipped from the same address as a major dist.

Pro shops, simply stop buying from these dist. that front as online dealers.
and you will put them out of business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You see riccy,  70% is bigger then 30%.

Oh by the way,  Riccy now works for a certain west coast dist.  Hey riccy, what are you selling the motion to BP for????  I'll bet $132 on paper.

BTW say hi to your buddy larry

Hey jls,

Stop bagging on Steve Cook's.....if you knew anything you would know he has no ownership in Bowlers Paradise.....he doesnt even ship for him.  And if you really knew anything, you'd know that Nic Melnikoff does crazy stuff on his website ALL THE TIME....to get people to his website....thats the way he is.  he has so much money that when he loses 10 or 20 on a ball, more often than not, he makes up for it on the sale of another item or some of that Elite crap.

Ebonite has a mandated price on high performance balls.....and they do verify that with their distributors...ask Bob Reid that question.

I think Melinikoff  raised his price after a few days....he's not stupid....got what he wanted....ATTENTION and people to his website.  I'm sure he thanks all of you for pointing out his sales.  Good advertising ploy, huh?

You guys are too much.

hey Elite

Why don't you tell this crap to someone who cares!!!!
Cause what you have to say, means nothing to me,  nothing at "tall"
