The Next Mission - Now NOT called the Domination
« on: January 26, 2011, 02:43:34 AM »
Ebonite has posted on its Facebook page that the next Mission is having a name change - it will NOT be the Domination. WTF? If you look on their website, they are now saying Mika won the TCO with "the Mission $250K."
I guess this makes the original Dominations an instant collectors item.

JLS,

I don't think it was a bad thing, nor do I think you are a bad guy. I think I've got you figured out somewhat and, like another poster I used to contest with (CRD), I think I've actually begun to like you somewhat.

You're passionate about what you do, you believe what you say, and you have the nerve to say what you believe and stand up for it. What's not to like about that?

But, now that I know where you're coming from, I'm bad to rib those that I know actually DO care about this game, and you are now on that list, whether we agree about some things or not, at least I know you care!

That's the good thing about being grown ups. You get to be who you are, I get to be who I am, and we get to decide how to associate with each other.

I think I'll take you just as you are.

I understand about the AMF thing.

It's sad because the REALLY DO make some good stuff. And I've always had good luck with them and GREAT customer service from them, so I tend to stick with them, even when things don't look so good for them at times.

I do have a couple of other pieces I use at times, I would be lying to say otherwise, but I do prefer to use them. They seem to fit my game more often than some other stuff I've tried.

I'm the ONLY person here who has more than one of them, and the other guy who has one has all but retired it.

When I shoot good, people all want to know what I was using. When I tell them, they look at me like "Wow, are they still making balls"?

Good luck with those DOMINATIONS. They do look to be pretty good, even if they are a bit "pricey".

The name was changed because Storm was going to file a lawsuit against Ebonite because Ebonite used the word Domination in the name. Ebonite decided why go to war over something as ridiculous as that, so the name was changed.

I don't think Storm like their guy getting beat 100 - 299

Talked with my pro-shop today. The reason they are changing the name is because of a lawsuit from storm. Being that STORM released a number of balls with the name "Domination." But props to EBO for hiding it behind the guise of honoring Mika. Not to take anything away from his amazing performance, great bowling Mika!

They could have change it to the 2.5 since no one will remember the 2.0

Still seems like a stretch on a lawsuit with so many companies using similar names at some point or another.

I think it is called trademark infringement.  If I had trademarked something I would protect it as well.

Unless Storm has a Mission Domination I would say that is a stretch on the Trademark. Since your using two different words. That would be like Hammer/EBI suing Storm if they use Burn with another name in their product line.

Say a Too Hot Burn. Or anyone using numbers since Track uses all numbers for their names.

I'm surprised that Storm didn't try a lawsuit against Ebonite using Vital Energy. Storm has Virtual Energy but yet Track had Kinetic Energy. It sucks that one word will make a company sue even when the other company had no intention on a trademark infringement.

lol....Maybe because the Vital Energy didn't destroy Storm's man 100-299 like the Domination did???
