The Next Mission - Now NOT called the Domination
« on: January 26, 2011, 02:43:34 AM »
Ebonite has posted on its Facebook page that the next Mission is having a name change - it will NOT be the Domination. WTF? If you look on their website, they are now saying Mika won the TCO with "the Mission $250K."
I guess this makes the original Dominations an instant collectors item.

No one said the claim had any legal merit, but it would still force Ebonite to pay legal fee's they don't want to.

My wife wanted to get me a ball for Valentines day even though I don't have a pressing need for any new equipment right now. I asked her to get me a Mission Domination and she was going to call my pro shop soon to order it. Last night I showed her the press release on Ebonite's site about the name change and how it looks with the $250K on it, and she said it looks and sounds horrible and she doesn't want to get me it now and she'll bust on me everytime we go bowling for having it. If I really needed the ball, I'd press the issue, but in reality I don't need it and I agree that the name change is not a good move. I know people on here are going to say "who cares as long as it strikes" and I agree. However, to the casual bowler, which are the majority of bowlers (sorry guys we more serious bowlers are the minority in bowling) this is not a good marketing move. I thought the original name was awesome, and they could have picked any number of great names if the Storm lawsuit thing is true. The Mission Accomplished would have gotten my vote, and my dollars! I'll continue to stick with my original Mission, which is the greatest ball I've ever thrown .

Sir,  not to worry... Call your pro shop and simply get one on order... The first shipments of these balls will be the ones with the Domination name on them... The name change to the 250K will be put on future balls now being made...  Just about every Ebonite Dist.. has the Domination's now in stock...And they are scheduled to be released on 2-3-11...

So you should not have a problem getting one with the Domination name on it...

That is if ebonite dosnt recall prior to release date. Also if there is a lawsuit cant they even release the ball on the date set or do they have to wait till the lawsuit is over

No, they can release the ball without a problem. The issue was if they were to keep making balls with Domination on them. Once they know of the suit all of the ball already made can be introduced into the market without issue. No different than the Callaway vs. ProV1 issue.

Or,  Mission "Storm Beater"  oops

No, they can't do that either, or they will get sued by Columbia...

Straight from Bob Reid. Stated they made a mistake in name research.
Was pointed out to Ebonite. They are allowed to sell exisiting Dominations, but all
newly produced will have $250K
Saw Bob, Bugsy and Szabina today in Houston.
All will remember Mika won $250,000.
Maybe now they will remember the ball as well.
I have 3. Whats it worth to you? j/k.

God, the world(international bowling community) would never forgive ebonite for releasing a ball named "Mission Accomplished". It just brings back embarassing memories of this:

Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota, asked by reporters about the incident, called it "one of the most significant embarrassments of the entire Iraq experience so far.

"We've lost more lives since (Bush) declared victory than we lost prior to the time we declared victory. And this latest fabrication is yet another illustration of their (the Republican administration's) unwillingness to except reality."

There will be plenty of them to call them a collectible. What Dominations were in the pipeline will still be sold before you will see 250K's.

Why not just something simple like:

 MISSION BLACK

 MISSION NOIR

 MISSION MIDNIGHT

 MISSION DARK

MISSION MUSTA ( Musta being finnish for black).

Maybe they should've changed the original to MISSION T.O.C. after Kelly winning with it?

"Yeah, I throw AMF. What's it to ya"?

I like these two, only in reverse--Midnight Mission/Dark Mission
